Pritzker: "If the Constitution means anything -- and I guess we all are questioning that right now -- the Insurrection Act cannot be invoked ... they just want troops on the ground because they want to militarize especially blue cities in blue states."

Looks like Trump will get his way in Portland (and other cities), no matter what the courts decide. Biden and the Democrats had a chance at the start to overhaul some of the executive powers that could and would be abused by future autocrats. They sat on their hands.

If the likelihood of a catastrophic event is > 10% then the Risks are unacceptable high. This is the point we have reached on scientific evidence for AMOC shutdown. This is the "Don't look up moment" for risks of liveability on Earth

This is how we sleep. Just cot beds in the underground bunker. It's getting very cold under ground, about 0 Celsius. Especially having a "shower" with wet wipes is getting more problematic.

Many people asked about the day-to-day life.

Ask your questions, will try to answer!

Interesting study that likely isn't digging deep enough.
COVID-related deaths along with disability have never been tracked accurately.
Our local work force has been reduced by both. However, public health is not checking/disclosing deaths caused by COVID.

US research:

"COVID-19 may have created a new year-round baseline for work absences...similar to influenza season conditions before the pandemic"

jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

"Policymakers should consider...policies & actions that mitigate the spread of #COVID19"

#LongCovid #CovidIsNotOver
Key Points
Question Following the COVID-19 pandemic, has SARS-CoV-2 circulation been associated with health-related absences from work and labor force exits?

Findings In this nationally representative cohort study of approximately 158.4 million workers, rates of health-related work absences remained elevated after the pandemic and were associated with circulating SARS-CoV-2 and subsequent decreases in labor force participation by absence-affected workers.

Meaning These findings suggest that COVID-19 may have created a new year-round baseline for work absences that is similar to influenza season conditions before the pandemic; policymakers should consider expanding interventions and data collection efforts to address the negative impacts of COVID-19 on the labor force.
