I'm from Shropshire, so in recent times just over the border- Llandrinio area, but further back Wrexham, Eribistock, Hanmer/Penley. I have several different Welsh branches!

Same. Scotland disappeared but I got North East England instead. Germanic Europe went but I gained Netherlands. My central southern England (correct) has gone and I have south-east England instead...

There's been quite a few changes with the latest update! I still have my 1% Ivory Coast & Ghana though, and so does my mum. Assuming the 1% is true, I wonder if I'll ever find out who it's from? #genealogy

St Mary's, Ellesmere. Another of my ancestral Churches! Several generations of my Williams branch were christened/married/buried here. The earliest I know of was my 6x great-grandfather William Williams who married Anne Davies on 17 November 1744. #genealogy #FamilyHistory #Shropshire

There are no words to adequately do justice to the marvel that greeted me on the latest leg of the north county church tour today. St Mary's #Ellesmere is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING:

Looking across the churchyard to the cruciform wonderment of the Grade-1 listed St Mary's Ellesmere - which must be among Shropshire's finest. It contains Norman features but was restored in the mid-1800s in a Perpendicular Gothic style.

My husband's great-grandfather William Henry Symonds was a Police Constable with the Metropolitan Police. He joined in 1882 (King's Cross Division) and transferred to Willesden in 1887. He was assaulted in 1890 (account below) and retired in 1908. I would love to find a photo of him! #genealogy

#OTD in 1788 my 4x great-grandparents Samuel Surage and Sarah West were married in Poltimore, Devon and on this day in 2002 I married my husband in Oswestry, Shropshire (although we lived in Manchester at the time - just to confuse future researchers!).

Also, my husband's great-grandfather was in the Metropolitan Police. The Metropolitan Police Heritage Centre sent me information when I enquired. Hopefully, there may be something similar for Lincolnshire?

The Cheshire Police Museum contacted me as they were researching Samuel and saw him in my tree on Ancestry. They sent me his records and put me in touch with another relative who sent me the photo. I was very lucky!

My great-grandad's stepfather Samuel Heap. Reprimanded by the Chief Constable more than once e.g. for being found in bed drunk and "behind a haystack in the company of PC Arthur" he was also commended by the Chief Constable for apprehending 7 deserters and obtained 4 good conduct badges. #genealogy

The north county church tour touched down in #Loppington today at the venerable St Michael's and All Angels. The Grade-1 listed structure retains many medieval features and fine craftsmanship throughout, from ornate carvings to beautiful tapestries and stained glass. Very impressive.
