As I revisit the Civil War with a rewatch of the Ken Burns documentary series, it drives home once again how stupid and awful modern voices calling for a new civil war are.

All we hear of Grok roasting people at a party is unhinged & epic; is there nothing celebratory & joyous? Or is query naive?

Post a movie where you are from

(David Mamet’s State and Main is set in the “fictional town of Waterford, Vermont” according to the DVD copy, which I have always loved because I grew up in the real-life town of Waterford, Vermont.)

Out packing up the tent after having set it up in the yard to dry from camping. Neighbor kid comes by on his bike.

“You’re welcome for your tent”

“Welcome?”

“We went and played in it and swept it clean and now it’s all ready for camping, so you’re welcome”

Just figured out today the most efficient way to set up our camping tent, which we have had for a decade and is starting to fall apart and is no longer being sold. Ain’t it always the way.

Bodes well for the weekend campout…

Memory from 12 years ago came up on FB where people were arguing that state welfare is morally injurious to those who receive it, a good reminder that even before 2016 there were terrible opinions out there

About 20 years back I helped work on a booklet for following the TLM and because it incorporated the 1962 reforms some people online got mad, so I registered on one of the main trad forums to ask if people had any questions about it. One of the first ones was whether Herreid was a Jewish name

Man with a pipe by Julian Fałat, 1881. Watercolor on paper.

Looks kind of like Kris Kristofferson to me.

Big tech doesn’t want you to know that when you work from home you can make focaccia and let it rise during a Teams meeting so it will be ready to throw in the oven right afterwards
