We're doing some research for some new playable stories, and we've got a question for you. What books/films/media do you consider "romantasy," even though they predate the term?

Great news for mystery lovers and/or anyone who was on Tumblr in the 2010s! Our newest playable world is Sherlock Holmes: The Blue Carbuncle. Work with Holmes & Dr. Watson to uncover a mystery involving a Christmas goose, a stolen gem, and a wealthy countess in Victorian London.

The Nutcracker in the Dracula world is somehow NOT a vampire. But that doesn't mean it's not evil <3 Have you tried our Nutcracker plot card yet? Here's the moment where we meet an EVIL, CURSED nutcracker in Dracula, aka NUTCRACKULA.

3...2...1! Happy FINAL DAY of Ficmas (and merry Christmas Eve). Our final trope is the last-minute confession. Declare your love in a story, before your space freighter leaves Europa, or before you leave the Land of Oz, or before Mr. Darcy stalks off across the moors. Or just before midnight!
December 24, 2025 at 1:26 PM
Ah, a trope as old as time. You BOTH gave up your most prized possessions in order to secure the other's gift! Luckily, the most important gift of all is...love. The second-most important gift is a 42-cc 2-cycle gas chainsaw with automatic chain oiler, but that's harder to work into a story. (1/2)

Welcome to the TENTH Day of Ficmas! Today’s trope is filled with potential. Picture this: a normal winter day, maybe a little cloudy, a little blustery. Then, poof! A foot (or three) of snow falls overnight. Now, you’re snowed in. (1/2)

It’s the Ninth Day of Ficmas! Today we’re spotlighting one of our favorite storylines and one of our newest plot cards: FAKE. DATING. Are you a celeb, trying to keep the paparazzi out of your private life by entering a “PR relationship?” Or are you a criminal, faking romance to cover your smuggling?

It's here! In A Very Brooklyn Christmas Carol, our new dark comedy, you'll find spiked eggnog, spectral entities and landmarks local to our very own Brooklyn office. Available now! https://www.hiddendoor.co/title/brooklyn

It’s the eighth day of Ficmas, and we’re drawing near the end of Hanukkah. So, we celebrate the festival of lights with a special version of our inspirational card deck!

On this day in 1843, Charles Dickens published a novella titled "A Christmas Carol. In Prose. Being a Ghost Story of Christmas." You likely know the shorter version.
We've been working on a new world with holiday spirit...well. THREE holiday spirits. Stay tuned! And happy birthday, Scrooge.
December 19, 2025 at 8:31 PM
You head back to your hometown for the holidays, only to discover your next door neighbor got…hot? WAY hot. Is true love a good reason to leave your big-city career (news anchor who is also a gourmet chef and accomplished architect), move home & take over the family Christmas tree farm? YOU DECIDE!
December 19, 2025 at 2:45 PM
If you don't find joy in the holiday season, well...You aren't alone. This trope is popular for a reason. Play a story in our Big Fan world, where you distract your crush from the loneliest time of year, or take a spin through Dead Man's Tale and help your alien symbiote navigate the holiday blues.

Going to holiday parties: :) yay :)
Going to holiday parties and realizing A Person You Don’t Wanna See is there: UGHHH :( :( crap dang it :(

Today’s Ficmas trope pays tribute to ♥️ togetherness. ♥️ It’s not the holiday season without an awkward dinner party!

QCon.ai is pretty lit today, y'all. @hmason.bsky.social's keynote definitely lived up to expectations.

Just enough snark mixed with optimism, with some definitely insightful thoughts on how the software engineering profession is evolving.
