Yes, agreed it is a different question + a different role from fiction more broadly, or from chat bots. In our stories, the combinatorial engine is creating *friction* which then sparks players to make narrative decisions. More info here for those curious! www.hiddendoor.co/help/faq

The Princess Bride, for example, contains fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love AND miracles—all tried-and-true romantasy ingredients. So, what are your "legacy" faves in the romantasy genre? Please, tell us! And have fun storming the castle!

We're DONE with our 12 Days of Ficmas reveals, but we are NOT done with Ficmas! We’re mailing stickers to anyone who plays Hidden Door for 12 days this month. Keep playing through 11:59 PM on January 1st, 2026 (your local time!). That’s when we stop keeping track and start stuffing envelopes.
