Are other cities as hostile to pedestrians as Bristol? Short walk home from the hospital but footpaths closed without any warning meaning I need to constantly walk back on myself.

"15 years ago, Polish workers came here to find opportunity. Now Poland is growing twice as fast as we are," says Kemi Badenoch.

Any ideas what may have happened in the interim?

Still lounging in the garden in October

It’s weird when we aren’t even half way through black cat month and I’m already excited for Christmas!

At least the following week I get a break as I have surgery so I’ve asked to not have any appointments for a week after that!
hisotalus.bsky.social
Ugh yeah, it’s a lot of managing!
hisotalus.bsky.social
And this isn’t an unusual amount either, and these appointments span 3 hospitals and a pharmacy. Many of which I can only get to using taxis :)
hisotalus.bsky.social
It’s hard to manage work when being ill means even on good weeks you have to a million appointments. Next week Monday I have pre surgical planning appt and a nurse appointment, Tuesday vaccinations at pharmacy, Wednesday MRI, Thursday oncologist appointment, and Friday appointment with surgeon.

“Clever, isn’t he?”

From the new Private Eye, out now.

Well that and it nuked my cancer to shits!

Some benefits of being a blonde at least. I did thoroughly enjoy feeling like I don't need a shave for several months. That was a definite silver lining of chemo. Now the most annoying types of hairs have grown first - except arm pit hair which I hope I won't get for a while!

Thank goodness the online learning platform has this option of using AI to generate test questions for students.... sigh

Leg hair is back but no sign of eye lashes growing yet. What is this cruel joke.

Enitre job advert reads as if generated by ChatGPT and then this is the application process. Requires PhD to be eligible. Ewww. No thanks.

(I am not actually looking for jobs)

Kiitos 🩷🩷🩷 That’s great Finnish! Well done

Happy my birthday to everyone except that taxi driver who nearly killed me on my bike today

(I just about managed to avoid collision and am unharmed)
hisotalus.bsky.social
Yeah the driver unilaterally decided to take a scenic route which meant I arrived late to my appointment with my surgeon and I’ve been charged £10 more than I bargained for. Uber is just great
hisotalus.bsky.social
Congrats on both fronts!

Made it there and back, now feel like death 💀. I’m sure I’ll feel better in a bit tho, and I can just do nothing for rest of the day so it’s ok.

Omg here I’ve been eating veggie food this whole time without knowing we were meant to be eating swans all along

I saw @behrenstimb.bsky.social talk about this work at @bacn.co.uk a couple of weeks ago, and it blew my mind. Absolutely lovely work.

I’m super excited to finally put my recent work with @behrenstimb.bsky.social on bioRxiv, where we develop a new mechanistic theory of how PFC structures adaptive behaviour using attractor dynamics in space and time!

I just cycled to the hospital and back for my targeted therapy injection and was so out of steam when I got back I thought I’d not be able to make it home. Couldn’t carry my bike into my house (had help) and my entire body feels like lead. I thought I was doing ok but my body is 80 years old now
