I feel as though there should be a law that says if Pierre Poilievre gets defenestrated as CPC leader in January then he has to move to Battle River—Crowfoot and live there until the next election because I think this would teach everyone involved an invaluable lesson about shenanigans.

The absolute funniest thing about this is that the house pictured is legitimately an abandoned meth lab, as someone in Derek’s replies discovered (see thread for proof)
If you want to do something like this, why not buy a $150k home in a small town in Italy, France, Spain, or Mexico, instead of having nine people share one bathroom after they eat at a restaurant called "Stinky's?"

I'm seeing a lot of "Luigi Mangione might be innocent" takes and I just want to remind you that legally, he IS innocent. Literally every person charged with a crime is legally innocent until and unless a judge or jury finds them guilty. It's not that they MIGHT be innocent. They simply are.

Mr. @mark-carney.bsky.social, your government could do some serious nation building by getting our public discourse off a platform regularly weaponized against Canadian sovereignty

Love to see the Sedgwick County Zoo putting out a good explainer on why GenAI slop videos of animals are a problem & how to identify them! It’s succinct, easy to read, and doesn’t shame people for not knowing better. A+ useful link to share with family and friends.

If you spend any time on social media, you’ve probably seen them – bears bouncing on trampolines, apes caught on doorbell cameras, or “rescued” wild animals acting in ways that seem too good to be…

My (I suspect deeply unpopular in general, but less so here) opinion is that I don't care if someone's religion is opposed to certain things, that shouldn't mean you get to opt out of things like vaccines and education and nondiscrimination laws and whatnot.

Let me just say: I have run more than a dozen marathons and an ultramarathon and I have worked 13-hour days in a cornfield in the scorching-ass sun, and none of those things broke me like breastfeeding.

It’s not a question of will. I am a determined person. Sometimes your body just WONT DO IT.

A nice little piece about my institute, @perimeterinstitute.ca, in the Globe & Mail: www.theglobeandmail.com/business/adv... (apparently it is "sponsor content" so it's more like a press release than reporting but it's a nice summary of what we do there and why)

A very important thread. When I was probably no more than 10, I saw this picture of the woman known as Harlow in the Philly Inquirer. A little babygay, I was shocked that such a glamour queen could live in my hometown and even more shocked to see her described as "a former man."

The Inflation Reduction Act allocated $1.55 billion to mitigating methane pollution from fossil fuel infrastructure. Does anyone know how much of that money went out, where it went, or how much avoided methane pollution taxpayers got as a return on that investment? Surprisingly little info online.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Canada has its fair share of terrible people, but the residential school deniers may be some of the worst. Acknowledging the past and ongoing violence and racism towards Indigenous people should be a bare minimum requirement of living in Canada.

Religion note: Remember that pastor who was arrested protesting an ICE detention facility outside Chicago recently? The one who was photographed on the ground as officers arrested him?

That's Rev. Michael Woolf, and this is his church.

If you're in San Francisco, there's a pop-up market this Saturday at 1 Columbus Ave. A bunch of menswear guys, along with shop owners, are selling stuff from their private wardrobes. Some of my stuff will be there. Ticket prices are $30 for 12pm-1pm preview hour, then $5 after 1pm.

Disappointed to see this. 160 union workers are fighting for a fair contract at Individualized Shirts, a US factory that makes high-end men's button-ups. The managers there have rejected the union's request for fair wages and health insurance. The union is asking for support 🧵
