A science teacher/assistant head teacher in Gloucestershire. Interested in curriculum, assessment, timetabling and logistics. (Terrible golfer, occasional walker and bad photographer).

We’ll see on Wednesday. I think I am because there is pressure to have only one science GCSE route to simplify things.
Schools will have to find money to build extra science labs, or science will be taught in classrooms. (Which isn’t the end of the world, it’s just a complete pain moving rooms each lesson when sharing labs).
Sure triple science for all will backfire as we don’t have enough teachers. So the most disadvantaged will be taught by supply teachers and the middle classes will be taught by the physics teachers we do have.
Made it to a streak of 1000 on Teacher Tapp.
True! I did really need to say that 😂

I would argue that the better improvement would be to offer single sciences rather than triple science.

This is based almost entirely on personal prejudice, having taken Physics and Chemistry at GCSE. I had zero interest in studying Biology.

This will help with the Physics teacher issue.
Interested to know what proportion of those that do GCSE psychology or geology go on to study it at A-level?

What worries me about this is the lack of teachers and the impact on the breadth of other options for pupils. This could be terrible for languages.

This drop off in school enjoyment in England graph is quite telling, isn't it?

It's from the DfE's RISE: Achieving and Thriving Conference - Raising Attainment: Success for Every Child events.

Is what happens in your school reflected in this graph or are you bucking the trend?

If so, how?
Really irritating that OS maps has stopped working. 😞🤬

King Harold exiled his brother.
William I imprisoned his brother
William II crushed his brother in battle
Henry I imprisoned his brother for life. In Cardiff.
Henry, Richard I, Geoffrey & John, well, did everything short of actually kill each other.
Edward IV executed his brother.

That’s the game

‘The art of loving’ by Olivia Dean is even better than ‘messy’. Really enjoying it.

Glad I didn’t wait and put it on my Christmas list 😆.
I do like a walk in Weston on a gloomy day.

📅 We’re excited to be at the Brilliant Conference in Liverpool on 11th Nov!

The EDCOP panel on adaptability, inclusion & reimagining success aligns with our mission: helping every student progress confidently, wherever they are.💪

Not long until we see you all there 🎉
You can't unscramble the egg. But you can decide what to cook next.

Read this this morning and I quite like it.
I thought this would be more these days.
40% of secondary schools send reports without any bespoke sentences – instead, pupils receive words from a comment bank or numbered grades only 📝

In comparison, almost every primary school has the class teacher write at least one bespoken sentence about the students (94%).
