Old; paranormalist; yes, I'm one of those deluded persons that thinks we coexist with interdimensional species that toy with us incessantly and I write tortured rubbish about it for a glossy 'haunted' mag who are kind enough to humour my oddness...

Anyone in the Games/Film/comic industry want to give the first episode of REDACTED a listen?

Please share! I'm hoping one very specific person sees this.

Hack Green Nuclear Bunker.. not quite what I expected but an interesting block of liminal artefacts with occasional cold spots, residual energy floating about aplenty.. and some spirity tale being revealed via electronic séance on the yellow staircase; could easily have slept the night there alone..

To walk the hedge was to walk a liminal path. Folklore called it “hedge riding” or slipping between worlds, where spirits, faeries, and the dead might be met. Wisdom came not from books, but from the tangled green. #FolkyFriday

Uncanny Live is in Brighton tonight and tomorrow. I can’t wait to see the show. It’s at the Theatre Royal Brighton which has many ghost stories attached and this episode of witw features a ghost story from there!

In 1777 "a gentleman of a particular turn of mind and deeply skilled in the abstruse and sacred science of exorcism" placed an ad in 'The Sketch' to offer his services to those owning property "falling to decay" because they were haunted. "Rooms rendered habitable in six days."

Investigation day! Don't get out as much as I used to do, 'ghost bothering' but today will mostly be spent charging me devices in preparation for a shindig at a 'haunted' nuclear bunker. Not expecting to get much but will be a fun night spent with trusted pals who are all of a paranormal like mind!

Rumours that Arkwright haunts his 1788 Greyhound hotel are unfounded! landlords in situ between 1978 and 1986 never witnessed any thing but declared there is a secret passage where the clock winding mechanism is located which always had a chilling feeling whenever they wound it up!

The stone built facia and clock face of the Greyhound Hotel.. erected in 1788 to accommodate important visitors and business men drawn to Richard Arkwright's powerful cotton spinning empire in Cromford.. the Black Dog.. (later Greyhound), also played host to events and celebrations for his mill workforce.. Arkwright spent many hours working from his top floor office and rumours were that he haunted the hotel still!

Ghostly goings on in Bacup

Bacup’s Royal Court Theatre has actually been featured on one of those ghost hunting programmes on TV - I don’t know if they saw anything though 😅

Ps, I’ve never done ‘alt text’ before so please forgive me if I’ve done it wrong 🥰
A purple circle with silver ring around the outside.Text reads ‘Finding Folklore’ above a picture of a ghost sheet.
Below the ghost, text reads ‘The Haunted Theatre. 1960-present. An apparition has been photographed in this theatre numerous times and is believed to be a woman named Norah’.
The bottom text reads ‘Bacup’s Hidden Heritage.’

On our way to the jute museum, I dragged my kids to this perfectly preserved 18th century mill town that's now a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can stay in the old mill which is now a posh hotel that's definitely not haunted by the ghosts of child laborers. newlanark.org

This is such terrible news. Jonathan was a big supporter of my books when they came out, hosting events and ordering stacks of copies and generally being lovely. Sending much love to @booksellercrow.bsky.social and his family. And please support them if you can.

Sadly, Jonathan died this morning. Crystal Palace won’t be the same without him. I guess they need the help more than ever, now.

A few years ago, I had planned to write a paper on the mediumship of the Victorian reverend, William Stainton Moses. He was a leading figure in the British spiritualist community. Unfortunately, it was for a collection that was cancelled due to Covid. I now have a second chance to write it. Hooray!

an illustration i've made for the "Dark Fairies" zine! 🦋
A fairy with butterfly wings hangs on a wall among a butterfly collection (and other insects). A girl is standing below with her hand reached towards the fairy.
