Reviews and musings about Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay books and related RPGs. He/him.
Check out my review blog: https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/
This was such an amazing book! I deeply regret selling it years ago. I think the “fluff” content was probably a lot more valuable to me than the actual rules.
A point that rarely gets raised is that Warhammer Fantasy Battle 3rd edition (aka The Orange Book) is basically a big hardback book of random GW art assets and posed studio photos with some freebie wargames rules squeezed in wherever they fit.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought this was shitty. There's some neat info in the new White Dwarf, but its insistence on only using first names for most people sucks.

Sure, most of us know this is Jes Goodwin, but if you were new to Warhammer you'd have no idea, so why not put his full name?
Anyone else find it insulting that GW refers to one of it's most talented and long serving sculptors, responsible for so much of their sucess simply by his first name like they do to everyone else?

Check out the Dystopian Wars rulebook for how a company should credit it's staff.

I love these guys. My Ork arm painting was based on a ping the Eavy Metal style (considerably worse, of course).

Love those Mega Armoured Nobz and the Warphead Weirdboy!
A full 1,500-point slice of ’90s Orky glory — Bad Moon Nobz gleaming, Evil Sunz revvin’, Snakebites on boars, and that classic Shokk Attack Gun ready to misfire hilariously. The whole horde bursting with checks, dags, and pure Waaagh! energy.

Very cool to see the latest White Dwarf exploring Games Workshop’s wonderful history again, focusing on the cool stuff that stores can do, and including Talisman content!

I actually picked up my copy in the very Manchester store mentioned in the issue: a tremendous shop whose manager Paul is brill!

Egrimm van Horstmann, akA Stupidly Powerful Sorcerer on Stupidly Strong Mount!
Egrimm van Horstmann – Dark Sorcerer of Chaos!

That two-headed dragon, the blazing yellow-and-black banner, the intricate armour—Egrimm was peak ’90s Chaos spectacle. A centrepiece that dominated every army shelf and every imagination.

My friend pointed out that it’s 30 years since ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness‘ was released - the Smashing Pumpkins‘ magnum opus concept album, and one of my absolute favourites. Basically designed to make sad teenagers (like me in 1995) feel like they’re not alone.

“One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss.”

“Which means that Copenhagen, a city of 1.2 million people, saves $357 million a year on health costs because something like 80% of its population commutes by bike.” #CityMakingMath

Some costs aren’t costs.
One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss
Copenhagen, the bicycle-friendliest place on the planet, publishes a biannual Bicycle Account, and buried in its pages is a rather astonishing fact.

So in a more recent Exploring #Warhammer post I covered the pre-40K Space Marine released including LE2 and LE10. I'm working on a post that will cover all the LEs or 'Limited Editions'.

Feel free to share any memories or thoughts on them! Thanks.

This is fantastic - a TTRG where you play as the unnamed serfs who toil in the shadow of Space Marines!
🙏CHAPTER SERF🙏

I finished it! A Warhammer 40K adventure & TTRPG where you *don't* play Space Marines. Instead you play those little hooded freaks loitering in the background while Space Marines hog the limelight.

Reading my son Pyramids, by Sir Pterry Pratchett. We’ve just got to my favourite bit, where the protagonist meets the Ephebian philosophers who are conducting practical tests of thought experiments (“Caution: Unresolved Postulates”)

Turns out tortoises cannot actually outrun arrows in real life.
