Important to understand. We did not lose the election because of our message or our candidate, we lost because the right controls the information infrastructure. Their message was heard and repeated, ours was not.
The Right built a powerful, partisan, & participatory media environment to support its messaging, which offers a compelling "deep story" for its participants. The Left relied upon rigid, self-preserving institutional media and its "story" is little more than a defense of imperfect institutions.

🚨 New from @ptrchn1.bsky.social 🚨

Thousands more New Jersey families could afford child care, groceries, and rent if state lawmakers expand two proven tax credits: the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Increasing credit amounts and expanding eligibility for assistance programs would help more families afford basic needs.

Of note.
Forced disenrollment from #MedicareAdvantage plans will reach 10% in 2026, affecting millions—particularly those in rural areas, PPOs, and lower-rated plans.

The Chief Justice of the United States will literally change the rules of the Supreme Court of the United States instead of divesting in individual stocks.
NEW: The Supreme Court will begin requiring litigants in March to list the stock ticker for each party involved in a case to make it easier to check if a justice has a conflict of interest that might require recusal. #SCOTUS

How is it possible that Kristi Noem still has this job. Imagine if you’re a family member or a shipmate of this guardsman.

Oh. My. God.
Remember that mindbending saga about Kristi Noem that WSJ ran a few days ago & dropped every jaw in the house? NBC has a follow-up saying Noem directed a USCG plane to deport people while the plane was searching the Pacific for a servicemember overboard. Never found.

Noem's use of Coast Guard resources strains her relationship with the military branch, sources say
Some early decisions by the homeland security secretary, including to divert Coast Guard resources from a search and rescue mission to the deportation of immigrants, set the tone early.

These interviews with former Obama administration officials underscore a mistake none of them will express bluntly.

They gravely overestimated the character of the American people. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/17/u...

Really good life advice.
I'm 52 years old & I have consistent friendships across decades of life changes & ups & downs.

My best clue I have to give you for making friends is find something weird that you love & do it with other people.

You will find your tribe & community.
Even if you stop doing the weird thing.

This is unfortunately true. Some more than others.
Having a parasocial relationship with a politician is never healthy. You might decide to vote for them, you might even respect a few. But they’re not your friends and you have no idea what they are like in real life. They are all deliberately projecting an image because that’s how the job works.

Well holy fucking shit. Ring cancelled their partnership with Flock. Keep pressure on them to stop volunteering their feeds to state, local, and federal agencies, though, because that part's still going.

The comments below this idiotic post reveal how uninformed the public is. Dems can't "defund ICE" until we take back congress. ICE is fully funded until 2029, to the tune of $170 billion, due to the "Big Ugly Bill". The best we can do here & now is to put limits on how they operate.
C’mon, Chuck. You’re fighting to “rein in” ICE? DEFUND ICE.
This is why there must be a full, independent investigation of every incident that ICE has been involved in. DHS and this administration cannot be trusted to carry out investigations on their own.

And it’s why Democrats are fighting to rein in ICE.

Move along, move along. Nothing to see here, just a bunch of sociopathic lunatics playing with laser anti-aircraft weapons. How long before one of these nitwits shoot down a passenger aircraft?
According to multiple NYT sources, it wasn’t even military personnel at Fort Bliss that fired an anti-drone laser at alleged cartel drones. It was CBP who used the weapon on loan from DoD against a child’s party balloon they mistook for a drone. The Pentagon gave CBP an anti-aircraft weapon.

This 👇. Dump your Rings. Stop seeing everyone as the enemy.
SuperDog Rex did escape & run one night.

Neighbor said Rex showed up at every front door via the Ring Network. So not only do they see their own Ring Camera, but they can see what’s on everyone else’s Ring camera.

We live in a fucked up weird world of paranoia fueled by stranger-danger.
I tell you what, Ring figured out exactly how to weaponize white people’s empathy in service to a corporately controlled surveillance state.

Tell them it will find your dog.

The northeast is a frozen tundra. Here's a fun thread to make you dream of spring.
This seems as good an excuse as any for a short thread introducing people to some single moths I've found in my area, looking for fun.

1. Here, for starters, is a Canary-Shouldered Thorn Moth (I didn't make this up).

Please read this thread all the way through. It's important that we all understand the atrocities that are happening in this country.
I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

Seriously, get rid of your front door surveillance cameras. It creeps me out that when I take a walk through my neighborhood that each house I pass gets an alert as I pass by. You don’t need to watch your neighbors constantly. It’s a sickness.
NEW: Ring has introduced "Search Party", a horrifyingly dystopian feature nominally designed to turn all of the Ring cameras in a neighborhood into a dragnet that uses AI to look for, in their commercial, a cute lost dog.

With Ring, US consumers are actually building a surveillance dragnet.

RESULT: Democrat Chasity Martinez wins a special election for a legislative seat in Louisiana, 62% to 38%.

This was a district that Trump carried by 13% last year, so a big overperformance by Dems, but the seat was already Dem-held.
