Heartbreaking. The University of Nebraska will terminate its entire Earth science department.

One of the country's most successful and respected geology & climate programs: gone.

When ideologues & politicians are threatened by the very act of studying climate change, I wonder: who of us is next?
It's over.

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

BREAKING: ‘This hurts’: UNL eliminates 4 programs despite faculty, student pleas
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln eliminates the Earth and atmospheric sciences 8-0, educational administration 7-1, statistics 7-1, textiles, merchandising and fashion design 7-1 programs.

This is among the most democratically dangerous things Danielle Smith has said.

She wants to remove all checks and balances on her power and projects herself as the embodiment of "the people."

We have left the realm of liberal democracy in this province.
Smith doubled down on her anti court rhetoric today...

She even seemed to suggest that federally appointed judges couldn't render impartial rulings and that she believed her interpretation should always be above theirs.

The waters where the Thompson Rivers meet at Tkemlups/Kamloops stay ice-free, at least in part, for longer than many in the region, so we’re a migratory stopover for loads of water fowl. Welcome, webbers!

I don't talk about my childhood a lot because it was rough.

I was given involuntary treatment and locked in a padded room as a kid.

I don't need studies to understand the harm it can do.

I live the trauma it causes and know first hand how much more worse it makes things
Premier Eby will have announcement tmrw about "strengthening access to involuntary care for young people."

🌀 Help Keep Kamloops Drains Flowing!
Catch basins play a big role in managing snowmelt, rain, and runoff across our city. When they get blocked with snow, ice, or leaves, flooding can happen fast.

👍 How you can help:
• Clear debris from catch basins near your home.
• After a snowfall, shovel snow to the right of your driveway—away from the curb.
• Never pour anything down a catch basin (they drain directly to natural waterways).

Survey is open until Dec 19, you don't have to provide feedback on every question, there's a comments section at the end.

Every dollar JK Rowling makes from Harry Potter is going into bankrolling an extortion racket issuing legal threats to organizations across the UK to purge themselves of trans people or face ruinous lawfare.
i hope every single person who still buys harry potter merch or engages with that franchise is happy that they're literally making girl guides cry

girl guides uk have been forced very much against their will to exclude trans girls. full statement is here: www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-...
