I am sure this is blasphemous ... but after getting into VGM #Vinyl while the primary enjoyment comes from putting on a record and just enjoying it. Currently I have the Bugsnax LP spinning, sent through an Icecast Server to Music Assistant to Kenku.fm to my Discord group chat and I'm loving it too!

In the wake of multiple deaths and injuries on our roads, Strong Towns Ottawa supports an urgent pilot on banning right turns on reds in the downtown core. We believe the lives of our community members should come before the convenience of drivers. Read the letter we have sent out today below.

I came here to kick ass AND chew bubble gum

And I’m all out of gum

Therefore it is impossible to kick ass AND chew bubble gum

I should have come to kick ass XOR chew bubble gum

We sent a letter to city council today about our growing infrastructure crisis, as well as what we can do to hopefully right the wrongs of our past. We've got over $50 Billion dollars worth of costs laying right under our feet and we hope that some changes in our development pattern can fix this!

100%. The “balanced” approach is simply the adherence to a status quo that will only get worse as the population grows and transit remains under-supported. And the TMP we’re set to approve next week perpetuates more of this.
Today it took 20 minutes to get down Elgin and another 50 to get to Bells Corners by car. A balanced approach to our transportation network gets us all nowhere fast. We need to shift our investments to give people who want to get out of cars a real choice. Show me who is happy moving around Ottawa.

Thanks to everyone who helped craft up our letter to the city, we have been invited to participate in the stakeholder meeting next week regarding the Bank Street Active Transportation and Transit Priority Feasibility Study!

This story is subscriber only, but lays out the numbers making a compelling case for bus-only lanes.

🚶🏼‍♂️20k ppl already using transit/day vs 143 parking spots (only 7% of area parking)

Imagine how much ridership could increase.

“We are growing very impatient” — The debate over fixing gridlock on Bank Street
The City of Ottawa has ruled out putting bus-only lanes on Bank Street, but some community groups say they are desperately needed

Elder Dragons

I find it hilarious how pretty much almost every elder dragon is a "bender" of some sort, but Nergi in particular is just an elder dragon because he's angry enough to throw hands with literally anyone lol

The City’s Auditor General released a report today about Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) and Red Light Cameras. The report found that the revenues are not being spent entirely on road safety, but going into City general revenues and to the police.

Parking minimums drive up the cost of housing and incentivize car ownership.

Abolishing parking minimums is good planning policy, and I am seriously concerned about attempts to dilute or eliminate this proposed policy in our new zoning bylaw.

Some of our members have been working on a visualization of property tax income for the city, we'll be releasing more information in the future on this, but it really does do a great job of showing what changes we can make to get our city finances back on track! #ottawa

I guarantee that every driver that can't resist the allure of that sweet sweet empty dedicated bus lane when there's a bit of congestion is also one who complains that bikes roll through stop signs.

We managed to get some data from the survey of the Bank Street Transportation Study. It's very clear that most responders want less space for parking, and more space for better transit!

I am 36 and spend 90% of my time at work helping others code ... but sometimes it still feels great to have no meetings on a day, reheat some leftover pizza, have a glass of Pepsi and just bust out a metric boatload of code! Sure my body can barely handle it anymore ... but let me relive my youth!

I'm a senior software developer. If I were to start a new job at a new place... I'd still be a senior software developer and I'd still be paid the same amount (or more) than I did at my last job. That's perfectly normal... this is just how career development works. The same applies to talent!
When some people say she relies on her previous job to be so popular, I really want to snap back at them and say, 'Her achievements and connections are the result of her hard work—she earned them, and there's no doubt about it.'
