Cam Payne on joining Pacers:

I’m fine with this though I think I’d rather just see what Q can do.

Pacers emergency veteran point guard might be cursed. Monte Morris and Delon Wright both injured while trying to get this job.
tonyreast.bsky.social
Just in from the Pacers: they have waived guard Delon Wright and have signed point guard Cam Payne.
ipacers.bsky.social
Ngl I kind of wanted Enrique to hit that one

Pacers win in overtime to start the preseason. Story of the night though is the pair of injuries to McConnell and Wright.
ipacers.bsky.social
Q and he can dribble while dealing with pressure, initiate the offense better.
ipacers.bsky.social
Peter can defend and can shoot. He’s got a chance.

Jarace touch pass to a Furph emphatic slam

YESSSSSS
ipacers.bsky.social
I think I’ve seen enough to say I want Q over Delon Wright for an emergency point guard.
ipacers.bsky.social
No surprise but Delon Wright will not return with a head injury.
ipacers.bsky.social
Refs reviewed the play first because it was a made shot at the buzzer but because they ruled it a defensive goaltend, Carlisle had to challenge it for them to be able to change the call to the right one even though they had just reviewed it themselves.
tonyreast.bsky.social
I have no idea what is happening but I think the Pacers challenged a Jay Huff goaltend that was clearly not a Huff goalted. Tt was actually a Gobert offensive goaltend. It's still 65-57 at the break.
tonyreast.bsky.social
Taelon Peter races ahead and dunks with about 10 seconds left for the final basket of the half for the Pacers. It's 65-57 (baskets pending for Minny) Pacers at the break. Siakam and Nesmith the two Pacers in double figures. Point guard injuries a storyline early.
ipacers.bsky.social
Would be surprising if he isn’t concussed after that play. Pacers point guard depth down to their 2-way guards now.
ipacers.bsky.social
Taelon Peter with a dunk at the end of the first half for his first preseason points.

Pacers up at halftime but they’ve suffered two injuries to point guards in TJ McConnell and Delon Wright.
ipacers.bsky.social
Delon Wright bleeding now in his head and mouth after a hit that would be a personal foul in an NFL game.
ipacers.bsky.social
TJ McConnell will not return with a sore left hamstring.

Taelon Peter getting burn with the second unit here. No Jones or Sheppard, and Wright is at the 1 with McConnell in the locker room.
ipacers.bsky.social
TJ McConnell limping off the court and into the locker room in some pain.

Not what anyone wants to see.

This is the dumbest split screen I’ve ever seen. Can’t even see the person they are talking to in that tiny box anyway and so much wasted space.

I’m once again asking for someone to just put text on the bottom of the screen to indicate who the guest in the broadcast booth is.

37-29 Pacers after first quarter:

They forced 3 turnovers in the backcourt with full court pressure because of course they did.

I-Jax little rusty perhaps with all the fouls in a short stint to start the game.

Coaching staff really challenging Benn on defense.
ipacers.bsky.social
Those are the kinds of turnovers Jarace needs to avoid to solidify a consistent role.

Pacers switched entire lineup with the second unit coming in for the starters (plus Bradley) there. Probably went Bradley first off the bench to keep those units intact.
ipacers.bsky.social
20-10 Pacers at the first timeout. They are in rhythm on both ends to start off the preseason.
ipacers.bsky.social
Nothing says the standard is the standard like defending 94-feet in the preseason.
ipacers.bsky.social
I-Jax avoiding fouls like that becomes a lot more important if he’s going to be the starter.
ipacers.bsky.social
Coaching staff really putting Mathurin’s defense to the test with the starters as they match him up with Ant. Two buckets for Ant early in the matchup though Benn did knock the ball away briefly on the first possession.
