On Dec 5th, I had the pleasure of teaching a 3.5h (!!) formative session for Geneva’s English teachers.
A great group, open to exploring new ideas about teaching and learning.
We covered a lot of ground:
🧠 Brain basics
🧩 Neural representations of language(s)
📚 Language learning & vocabulary

Based on the thesis of my brilliant student Lucia from @ccniuofg.bsky.social @uofglasgow.bsky.social, we see that gendered language (Italian) can be a painful source of non affirmation for non binary people. We also make some suggestions for how to improve their experiences and create safer spaces 🙏

Are there good neuro/neuroimaging journals that still accept brief communications, i.e., short papers focused on 1-2 results? Interesting results but not "major impact".

Some facts about biological sex, genetic sex, and why it is not so clear cut as people think:
World Athletics’ mandatory genetic test for women athletes is misguided. I should know – I discovered the relevant gene in 1990
World Athletics says its genetic test for women ensures ‘the integrity of women’s sport’ – but science does not support this overly simplistic idea.
