hello new followers! I'm Tim, I've been working in games for about 20 years and been an #indiedev for 11

I think of myself as an artist/animator but do a lot of programming and design and collaborate with wonderful people

I don't post too much at the moment due to burnout, but I'm still here!

genAI isn’t the future, it’s literally our collective past resold to us

in a dystopian story setting where every artist has died, this is the type of tech you would invent to prolong the dying embers of humanity, the odd tasting but better-than-nothing recycled energy bar version of creativity

when people say genAI is the future I am struck by how short sighted and fatalistic this is as a concept

it’s recycling our past for the future, it’s drinking our filtered waste while not thinking about how many times you can do that, it’s hoping tomorrow’s answers have already been said
