NEW! The Trump administration appears to have sent a married father with NO CRIMINAL RECORD in any country to rot in a prison in El Salvador because of a PAPERWORK ERROR.

This man doesn’t even have tattoos! But his paperwork has two different peoples’ ID numbers listed and the wrong last name!

Being snatched off the street for your opinions. I'll say it again. We are deciding, right now, whether the aspirations we hold for this country are finished. Whether we're going to let these hoodlums and grifters throw what's left of the American idea into the garbage for their own profit and gain.
RUMEYSA OZTURK KIDNAPPING VIDEO

Here is a video of federal agents detaining Tufts University PhD student Rumeysa Ozturk Tuesday night.

Rumeysa was abducted as she was heading to meet with friends to break her Ramadan fast.

Not sure if this has been shared here yet, but this is video of Rumeysa Ozturk's arrest posted by WCVB. It's terrifying.

This is a good comic and sadly does capture a real problem.

It is harmful for a kids development if parents explode about something innocuous on television all the time. It creates an atmosphere of fear and threat that encourages hypervigilance even if the anger isn’t directed at the kid. #CPTSD
won’t somebody think of the childrennnn

Trump signed another EO targeting the law firm Jenner and Block. Among the reasons cited, litigating cases defending trans people and immigrants.

They are the firm litigating the ACLU challenge to the executive order banning gender affirming care for trans youth.

Or he’s lying! Which he does a lot.
Important. Either Trump is so far gone mentally he doesn’t know what he’s doing, or people are acting in his name without his knowledge. This was an order with enormous implications, and the President of the United States says he didn’t do it.

President Donald Trump downplayed his involvement in invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1789 to deport Venezuelan migrants, saying for the first time that he hadn't signed the proclamation, even as he stood by his administration's move.

Sorry but march madness doesn’t start until Thursday. These play in games are an amuse bouche at best and should not be allowed to dilute the conceptual integrity of the madness I desire so strongly.

It irritates me to no end that Brian Scalabrine cosplays Tommy Heinsohn by referring to the Celtics as “us”.

He was on the Celtics for less than half his playing career but more importantly he doesn’t play for the Celtics now!

Is there a reason it took 3 days to respond to the letter, which coincided with it being made public by the media?

Genuine question.
March 6, 2025 at 9:16 PM
Why did the university only respond with this when the initial letter became public (today) rather than when Dean Treanor received it (March 3, according to him)?
With his permission, I'm sharing Dean Treanor's response to Ed Martin's letter:

Some of us have been so dissociated for so long that most levels of threat creates a literally insurmountable paralytic response. It’s not risk aversion in that there’s no conscious choice to favor inaction, nor is there an evaluation of the risk/reward benefit. ::::Send post.

Eh. In my experience the real problem with the legal academy is that there is no worst thing you can be.

Most everything is justifiable and can be accomadated as long as it’s within the context of reifying the hierarchy and mutual importance of your bosses, peers and institutions.
really seems that to much of the legal academy, the worst thing you can be is rude. twisting history and the law to deprive millions of people of citizenship? well, as long as you’re polite about it!
Mike Ramsey, for whom I have a great deal of respect and who wrote the leading originalist case for birthright citizenship, has a post criticizing not the substance but the tone of critics of Wurman and Barnett. Including me. originalismblog.typepad.com/the-original...

Can’t speak for anyone else, but I would! Especially with dysphoria related facial recognition software glitches, I try a paint by numbers approach but there’s so few resources I’ve seen that are helpful to that if you have heavy brows/hooded eyes and poor dexterity lol.

at this moment in time, "Identity politics is bad" means, "it is good that Trump is resegregating the federal government and attempting to commit genocide against trans people."

these are things that are happening right now, under the banner of anti identity politics. 1
After outperforming Kamala Harris and winning in Michigan, Elissa Slotkin in mid-November called on Democrats to speak like normal people — "not from the faculty lounge, but from the assembly line."

"I personally think that identity politics needs to go the way of the dodo," she said at the time.

The grift here is obvious, but the administration is also trying to undermine the integrity of the idea that citizenship is something inalienable and fundamental for every American.

This cheapening/degradation of legal status is very much a part of the project of large scale disenfranchisement.
Trump is now proposing to sell a $5 million "gold card" that will provide a fast-track to citizenship for the ultra-wealthy.

He's doing this as he tries to place restrictions on certain forms legal immigration, including pausing admission to refugees displaced by violence.
