If advocating for peace, justice & meaningful action on climate change is extremist. Consider me one. If being critical of growing inequality, tax loopholes & havens, corporations that don't pay taxes, breaches of international law & human rights & genocide is extremist. Then count me as one #auspol

Ukeleles being strummed en masse. Chickens openly addressing government officials. Line dancing in a public thoroughfare. Frogs, unicorns and dinosaurs getting their interspecies groove on.

I'm glad Trump didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize he coveted so much but giving it to Machado is another example of why the Nobel Peace Prize is 🤮 & lends support to a coup. She is not a peace activist. She's been applauding Trump's recent attacks on Venezuela & has supported Netanyahu's genocide.

Excellent speech by Jim Lee. Some really beautiful words there and so great to see both DC and Marvel make statements against AI in comics.

The Avengers: The Veracity Trap was a really fun read. A love letter to classic Marvel and the creators of comics. Loved it.
The image shows the cover of the graphic novel. In the middle the title: The Avengers: The Veracity Trap, in very classic 1960s stylised font. The image shows Loki right at the top conjuring some magic while all the avengers are depicted in action, fighting the magic. It’s all done in a very retro style.

There may be a ceasefire. There may be an exchange of hostages (both Israeli and the thousands of Palestinian hostages held in Israel) but the colonialist process, the plans for Greater Israel, a takeover of Gaza by foreign powers and the genocide are still in progress. The struggle continues

"While any ceasefire that brings relief to the besieged and bombarded Palestinian people is welcome, Trump’s proposal cannot be allowed to become the new baseline."

And ironically under the current regime that both Apple and Tim Cook are so wholeheartedly supporting both Steve Jobs and his mother would have been arrested by the ICE terrorists and deported

The Aust Parliament Sports Club (the one that ditched David Pocock) is now formally registered as a lobby group👇🏽

Anthony Albanese is the President of the Aust Parliament Sports Club.

That means the Prime Minister of Australia is currently the president of a lobby group.

Just utterly unbelievable.

Thanks to the lawsuit over book bans by the Department of Defense Education Activity, we now know the nearly 600 books banned in US military schools worldwide.

The list prominently features LGBTQ+ books, books about racism, puberty titles, and comics.

This is so good from Cory Doctorow on all the tricks Amazon uses to get both consumers to pay more, and how businesses on the platform end up paying it 45-51 cents on every dollar.

Plus he rightly calls for regulatory change, not just individual consumer action

Could the National Press Club be less embarrassing and less complicit in the genocide of Palestine/the West's decline into overt fascism, pretty, pretty, pretty please? 🙏 Cancelling Chris Hedges' talk on the betrayal of Palestinian journalists only proves his point. Truly, truly pathetic

Always remember - gas companies hate selling gas to Australians and none of the proposals for new gas fields (which are not needed) will be for domestic use.

So do not buy any of the spin.
rodcampbell.bsky.social
Here's the ACCC today saying that gas exporters are ripping us off. Again.

"gas being offered & supplied by the exporters to the domestic market has declined over time, while LNG export volumes have increased."

At the UN, Trump falsely claimed Hamas keeps rejecting ceasefires. In reality, Israel...bombed Hamas’ delegation while it was reviewing the latest U.S. proposal. The prior offer, a phased deal based on Israeli/U.S. terms, was accepted by Hamas on Aug. 18. Israel has still not responded.

The abstract opens with flagrant nonsense. An LLM has no representation of ideas, certainty, or factuality. "Hallucination" is not an aberration, but inherent in every response. The magic trick is that remixing words somewhat out of context and without understanding can often be perceived as true.
Like students facing hard exam questions, large language models sometimes guess when
uncertain, producing plausible yet incorrect statements instead of admitting uncertainty. Such
“hallucinations” persist even in state-of-the-art systems and undermine trust
