I think asking the deputy FBI director (a political appointee) about governors telling federal agents not to enter certain cities is reasonable, actually. His response was actually fairly professional and explained the FBI position. It was the hosts engaging in unprofessional shit-talking.

Why don't they just do what they always do; invest some money in OpenAI, then have OpenAI immediately spend that money with Microsoft and claim they're making a profit on computing services? It's not fraud if you're rich and USAmerican!

The thing people ignore about Green membership compared to Labour in 2017 is that Labour were already one of the default choices in 2017, so a huge jump in membership just meant enthusiasm rather than an increased vote share. The Greens aren't, so this member increase could actually mean new votes!

I think something else that helped was the fact that most of the earlier left-wing critics were responding to some pretty minor stuff and made it clear they never believed in elections. It came across more as doomerism than political critique, and made people more skeptical of left-wing criticism.

Everyone is talking about the guy in the Bernie shirt de-escalating, but the woman in blue also tried to de-escalate and these dirty old men tried to drag her away. He only managed to de-escalate because these pervs are cowards who were scared of someone bigger than themselves.

They won't stand for the economic hit either. Politicians in basically every EU country are bought and paid for, just like the UK. And that's before factoring in the far-right governments (eg Hungary) that would love to see a precedent against free movement in any form.

Folks demanding political / ideological purity fail to see that this is no longer a movement belonging to the left / liberals. This is an opposition against fascism. By definition it must be big tent. Failure to grasp this: see divided oppositions in Eastern Europe as your failed examples.

I personally find it a massive red flag that it’s not a red line already before conference.

They wouldn’t have a vote on whether to be racist or not so it communicates they consider trans people as potential targets and less worthy of respect than other groups.

Not when that 3rd country does hundreds of billions worth of trade each year. They only sanctioned Russia when they directly engaged in a land war in Europe. The EU is a primarily capitalist institution and they won't sacrifice profit unless there's a serious risk to the EU's existence.

Yeah, I don't see the people holding signs calling for Trump's execution going back to supporting right-wing Democrats who held the door open for the Republicans. Especially when they can see candidates like Mamdani and now know that better is an option.
