this is a Jody Miller fan account because we dig 70s country too

Jody hit with a gender-switched He's So Fine and covered Baby I'm Yours, Be My Baby, To Know Him Is to Love Him, House of the Rising Sun, You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman, and Will You Love Me Tomorrow
A performer whose career had two acts, Jody Miller was born today in 1941. The sky seemed the limit in 1965 when she won a Grammy for “Queen of the House” (written by Roger Miller & Mary Taylor). A dry phase followed, but she roared back in the early 1970s with several more hits. Miller died in 2022

"Despite the joke about Wisconsin having two seasons---winter and road construction—there are actually five: winter, spring, summer, fall, and the gun deer-hunting season"
‘Tis the Season (No, Not That One)
What you are about to read is some of the oldest writing I have ever posted on this website. It first appeared in 2009, but I wrote something very much like it in the fall of 1995, for the editorial page of the Daily Iowan newspaper at the University of Iowa during my one-year tenure as an opinion page columnist. The gig was a lot of fun while it lasted, and I should probably go digging for clips and see if there's anything else in there worth repeating.

with the Commodores or solo, Sweet Love is the best thing Lionel Richie ever did

i will not be considering alternative viewpoints at this time, or ever
“Show me a river that’s so deep; Show me a mountain so high; I’ll show you love that’ll last forever; Flying high, so high” On this date in 1975 the Commodores’ single “Sweet Love” was released as a single on Motown. Written by Lionel Richie, “Sweet Love” peaked at #5 pop & #2 soul in the U.S.
