Not sure how to do this. My partner and light of 19 years, @mitzistarkweather.bsky.social has been diagnosed with metastatic (stage 4) breast cancer.

We are hopeful that modern treatment can give her many more years of changing the world.

If you’re able, we could use your help.

Love to wake up to an op taking a massive L lmao

There's a lot of rude, controlling, insecure little boys in the retro gaming scene, but let them throw their toys in a corner long enough and eventually they'll smack themselves in the face.

Found this old test footage of Aliens vs. Predator (1994) running on a cheap Hitachi via the MiSTer Analog IO Board's composite.

After everything, CRTs are still so magical to me

I was there on day one baby!! Still some of the most hype I’ve ever had for a platform. I ADORED the PS1 so the possibilities of new little lowpoly 3D games in that style had my mind racing.

It mostly lived up to that promise too! Needed more racing and fighting games tho.

I waffle back and forth on my favorite console, but if I had to pick one piece of video game hardware to play forever, the answer is always the Super Nintendo.

In a world where video game award shows actually meant something, HYPERBEAT would have multiple nominations.
HYPERBEAT has a brand new trailer! I'm very proud of it :)

Do yourself a favor, watch The Last Man Standing (1995) and you too can reflect on an era when true cinema was birthed onto a Blockbuster $.99 rental shelf

Demonschool embargo is up. My review is still in progress, so I am hopeful it can turn me around, but sadly it hasn’t landed for me like I had hoped it would.

Aesthetically stunning, but deeply unsatisfying in its progression.

I'd like to share this old video of hers, where she talks about her time working on the 3DO port of Doom.
it's a wild story that stuck with me, and a reminder that sometimes "bad games" have amazing people working on them

Always thinking about this and the rippling effects it likely had on the Final Fantasy franchise for decades. Absolutely pointless cruelty.
Everybody always talks about how shitty it was the way Konami handled terminating Hideo Kojima. But I so rarely hear people ever talk about how, when Hironobu Sakaguchi left Square Enix, management at SE seemingly told all the staff to never talk to Sakaguchi, and also ostracized his protegees.

The attract loop for Amok, a Sega Saturn mech blast 'em up from 1996.

Developed by Lemon, published by Scavenger, and with music by Jesper Kyd.

This is a pretty damn cool game that uses voxels for its graphics rather than polygons, giving it a look that I more associate with Novalogic sims.

Imagine if somehow things had kept progressing with these kinds of technological leaps.
The XBOX (2001) is now as old as the Atari 2600 (1977) was when the XBOX was released.

Ashley’s writing is so good it’s criminal. Her use of “vale” in the opening paragraph has me certifiably manic.

Final Fantasy IX marks the moment I fell in love with the craft of video games and the artists who bring them to life. That small, thoughtfully considered detail can outshine the broadest horizon.
