The backwards compatibility (forwards compatibility??) of most GBC games is one of my favorite little video game things. I couldn’t afford a GBC, so a lot of its games only look right to me on a Game Boy Pocket!
Lesser versions and ports for underpowered hardware have fascinated me ever since.

GB Studio opened up the door for a lot of people who wanted to get into making Game Boy games but didn't know how. Now there's an engine for N64! Tools like this make me so optimistic about creating stuff.

This is such a cool example of both the magic you miss out on playing vintage 3D games at higher resolutions than intended AND why I believe character designs were so much stronger in this era.
