Some inking advice I always give is that you need do more than just trace your pencils. You should still be drawing when inking. They should be additive. And I really cant think of a better example than this vid. Watching this guy ink a beautiful bg out of some super loose pencils is mesmerizing

At the risk of giving a frustrating answer, itll just kind of develop on your own as your keep drawing. My style is like it is cause i have fun drawing that way and i can do it quick. It was developed over years of studying art, trying new mediums and tools, and applying that to comics and stuff
In your experience, how did you develop your own unique style?
I'm used to doing studies and trying to have those kind of rub off, but I can't wrap my head around developing a unique style

This is no joke! Making comics is absolutely one of the best way to improve your art. It forces you to draw so many things from angles you never expected. Its awesome!

It's been a while since I've seen anyone recommend it, so just in case:

Desk mirror. Perfect for helping you push expressions & enunciate dominant sounds in a word bubble to help sell the dialogue. Even if you heavily stylize, like me, you may find it useful!

(Examples from my comic kattabolt.com)
Ray the fox boy, from Kattabolt page 4. He is holding one arm up to his face, brushing his knuckles against his chin as if supporting it in thin air. His expression is confident and his mouth is curved into a sly smile. The dialogue says "It sure is! Shame no one told you about the overnight tax. ALL the inns will charge you one." His mouth is drawn to emphasize someone who continues to smile throughout the sentence. Leigh the cat boy, from page 23. Leigh looks angry while he speaks, his eyebrows furrowed but his mouth wide as he raises his volume. The visible dialogue says "It's not that easy for him. OTHER PEOPLE don't just pretend to be a different person one day, NATHAN." The enunciation and the shape of Leigh's mouth are so that the focus can be on both "OTHER PEOPLE" and "NATHAN". Alex the cat girl and Nathan the totally normal blond dude, from page 13. Alex is seen from the side but has her mouth visibly open while innocently asking "Hey, can I have some money?" Nathan's expression is less open, with his eyebrows raised in concern, and his lower eyelids pushed upwards by his cheeks as his mouth creates a horizontal, almost rectangular shape to mimic his "What??? No!" With the emphasis being on "what". Nathan from page 9. His face is scrunched up, brows furrowed and eyes screwed shut as he shouts "Back off!" The shape of his own mouth emphasizes the "O" in "off".

Make sure your RPG battle transitions, scene composition, and attack animations are at least as cool as this Taiwanese DOS RPG from 1995

people might think creating OC lore involves a lot of thinking & planning, but in my personal experience, OC development is more like a divine vision from a god slamming you over the head with a mallet while ur doing the fuckin dishes or folding laundry

Jack Kirby, forty-nine years ago:
A comic book panel by Jack Kirby in which an excited crowd declares that “little people can’t run a big world!” and that “The Elite can take care of us!” Three panels from a Jack Kirby comic page. In the first panel, a computer generated face whips a mob into a frenzy, declaring “we must beware of the freedom freaks!” In the second panel it declares “Our love can destroy the freedom freaks.” In the third panel, “The Love Machine” is rolled out: a gallows from which a straw effigy hangs, a sign on its chest reads “Freedom Freak.” A panel from a Havk Kirby comic, a close-up on the face of a determined Captain America. The caption above him reads in part: “Somehow the Nazi ghost never seems to die within man. It marches with insane pride…respecting nothing…taking everything and ignoring the pain of others”

“put it on his fucking gravestone”
wolf840 said:

Does anyone else remember when Elon was like "if anyone knows how to end world hunger for 6 billion USD, I'll fund it" and UNICEF was like "we're going to spend a month to make a plan to end world hunger for 6 billion USD
and Elon is going to fund it" and Elon was like "actually, nah" and then bought Twitter instead?
I think that was one of the worst things I'll ever see in my life.

tiredspacedragon replied:

I still think that should be the thing for which he's the most famous. It should be brought up every time he's mentioned. In any news article, any interview, any history book. "Elon Musk, who was offered a chance to end world hunger and turned it down." Put it on his fucking gravestone.

still haven't played Dandy's World. still like these designs. idk.

Tisha, But Make Her Minecraft Steve And Also Shojo
#dandysworld #dandy'sworld #roblox #tisha #dwtisha #dandysworldfanart
Tisha, a character from Dandy's World representing a tissue box, looks over to the left while holding a broom, seemingly assessing the cleanliness of whatever it is she's looking at. In this drawing, Tisha is made up of box shapes- her arms, legs, feet, hands, and torso are all boxes. She also has eyeliner which ends in long swooshes from her eyes, and her eyes are filled with highlights. Her torso boxes are dark blue, resembling a top, while she wears a lavender pencil skirt just underneath, and her feet boxes have a "sandal" texture seemingly painted onto them. A tissue sticks out of both the top and bottom end of her face box. Her broom is yellow, while her "skin" is light blue.

not a Dandy's World player in the slightest but Glisten almost makes me interested.
he's SO fruity. he has ALL the fruitiness. i love him a lot your honor
#dandysworld #dandy'sworld #roblox #glisten #dwglisten #dandysworldfanart
Glisten, a character from Dandy's World, stands proudly in front of a light gray background, leaning somewhat backward. His left hand is balled into a fist just under his face, and his right hand props up a light blue umbrella. Glisten is a humanoid mirror, with a long handle acting as a torso and spindly black limbs. He wears a giant, dark red bowtie around his "waist", as well as thick, white leg warmers. His face acts as the mirror, and the frame of the mirror resembles a coiffed haircut. His face has rounded, triangular blush spots, and he wears a lidded expression with a sly smile. Sparkles, and Japanese onomatopoeia reading "kira kira" surround him. Glisten's name is written over to his right in a similarly extravagant style, with long tails shooting out from the letters.

If you want a better world, you must be OK with inconvenience

Mail will be slow, we won't be able to buy stuff from around the world 24/7, we won't always have the newest tech and upgrades won't come out every year, environmentally friendly products might be clunky. Embrace slowness!!!

Before folks start comparing this to European autocracies, pause and ask why so many folks - Black and white - didn’t know about the Tulsa Race Massacre. Or the Wilmington Coup. Or the Colfax Massacre. Or the Elaine, Arkansas massacre.

Erasure has been a key tactic of white supremacy. Right here.
