big late breaking news: the market monitor for the largest energy grid in the u.s., covering much of the midwest and mid-atlantic, has called to block new data centers connections to the grid, saying current course of growth assures regular blackouts
No more PJM data centers unless they can be reliably served: market monitor
The PJM Interconnection’s market monitor urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to rule that large data centers can only come online if the grid operator can still meet reliability metrics.

Phew....this was so so freaking good of a video! One thing is bugging me though. I'm not able to figure out the classical soundtrack being played at 1:32:00-1:34:00 and it's playing over and over in my head. Could anyone point out which classical symphony it is? #MusicSky

You can even put an exact date on the day when Brussels finally gave up on its decade-long dream of seeking to be the predominant global tech regulator that would rein in American tech titans like Google and Apple.

It came last Wednesday — Nov. 19.
Brussels is done being the world’s digital policeman
The “Brussels Effect” is dead. Now Washington is setting the pace on deregulation in Europe.

answer is great but also it's telling that the guy who's been saying this since day 1 has to answer about whether he's an antisemite for 5 min every interview while the same people grin vacantly at the jewish space lasers lady and call her a brave warrior
WELKER: What is your message to Jewish New Yorkers who feel you won't be tough enough in your response to antisemitism?

MAMDANI: That I am looking forward to being the next mayor and fulfilling the commitment I've made to Jewish New Yorkers to not only protect them but to celebrate and cherish them

Saw this little guy last night with the Salish Sea School in Anacortes, WA as part of their free community dock walk I volunteer as an interpreter for.

We can tell it is a giant pacific octopus from the single line of chromatophores on each arm.

Moderates:

(1) Seek to turn the U.S. into an AI-centered petrostate; by

(2) Exploiting the "affordability" zeitgeist; as

(3) A pretext to embrace the fossil fuel industry's "all of the above" energy rhetoric & "technology neutral permitting reform."
I'm kind of baffled how the "moderates" have apparently all decided to turn against climate policy at once, just as China reaches green electrostate liftoff mode. I thought these people were all about National Greatness and making Hard Choices

It is a matter of supreme irony to me that the furthest right-wing of the furthest right-wing people are fascist, misogynist, racist and the Queen who rules over them is Candace Owens. I don't think this irony will ever get old for me. She is such a fascinating phenomenon!

I knew the choice of an American to be Pope was going to be consequential in so many ways. I admire the way this Pope is applying his soft power. This country has needed a Christian reckoning for a long time now. MAGA Christianity is only going to get more isolated going forward.
The U.S. bishops defended migrant families. Tom Homan snapped. Nan Hayworth called Pope Leo a “tool of our enemies.” Tim Burchett accused the church of getting rich off of sex trafficking.

Matt Walsh, Lara Logan, and the rest joined in. This is what MAGA anti-Catholicism looks like.
“Pope Leo Is a Tool of Our Enemies”: Homan Leads MAGA Attacks as Hayworth, Others Pile On
It’s the latest MAGA attack on Pope Leo’s pro-immigrant stance. Disgraced border chief Tom Homan — caught taking a $50,000 bribe in a Cava takeout bag — led the charge against Leo and the bishops.
