Are we sure they're nominating someone?
January 6, 2026 at 3:40 PM
The best part is the data was uploaded to an all timer of a url okstupid.lol which, sadly, is now down.

I cannot overstate how much better that makes this entire story.

Wait I swear I just heard about the guys getting absolutely demolished in a spouses poetry contest???

jk no tipping because people just get paid fair wages
January 5, 2026 at 7:14 PM
They look like they add a 25% tip when paying the 1
January 5, 2026 at 7:13 PM
The nice thing is that even showing up 95% of the way there is still fine. I need to be realistic about goals when it comes to this stuff.

Going to be even less active here as Lorwyn spoiler (read: preview) season starts, depending on how well these filters hold up. Opting out of previews has made it way more fun when I actually sit down with the cards for the first time. Feels like an old-school prerelease.

That’s all I can control.

I fixed my camera stuff fwiw

Have struggled to meditate for a while. Trying to fix that. What's working this year:

Put in my good headphones
Lay down, no sitting
Close my eyes
Put on "It's Gonna Rain (1965)" by Steve Reich
Focus on my breathing

For whatever reason, my brain is eating it up.

American Magic players: Mr. Menswear, how do I dress myself to play this card game?

European Magic players: This tournament requires a tailored suit or culturally meaningful attire and we play for expensive cutlery.

Back in February, I was looking at some of the new Magic cards in Aetherdrift. I saw Whir of Invention and said, “oh, who did that? Brian Chippendale?"

Who is Brian Chippendale?

I don’t like directs as tournaments, but they’re a way to express skill at sealed and be materially rewarded, so I’ve been playing them more.

2025 results:

FIN: 15-6 (71.4%)
TLA: 104-53 (66.2%)
EOE: 180-99 (64.5%)
OTJ: 12-9 (57.1%)
NEO: 27-25 (51.9%)

Total: 352-204 (63.3%)

They're really well made, so buying on the secondary market is fine - just make sure you're not getting a knockoff. FWIW, I was replacing a gaming chair every couple of years. This chair is going I think 7 years strong and needs minimal upkeep.

Wife got me a used Herman Miller from a company liquidation. My back pain and shoulder issues are completely gone. They're the real deal.
