Developer anxiety is actually a quality control mechanism. It makes us check edge cases and side effects.

LLMs aren't dangerous because they're wrong, but because they're fearless. They write terrifying code with zero hesitation.

Beware of what you approve. You are the only guardrail left.

I’m going to be the old man (41) who talks about understanding the code the AI generates and being able to write it by hand. The kids will say I’m out of date, and I’ll never be sure they’re wrong. The indignity will never be lost on me that I’m talking about hand-writing god damn Javascript.

Another tip on closing s involves the new `closedby` attribute. Putting `closedby="any"` on a adds light-dismiss functionality to the dialog, meaning users can close the dialog with the Esc keyboard shortcut.

In today's version of "Private Equity ruins everything"

We find Stack Overflow introducing "AI Assist"

meta.stackexchange.com/questions/41...

Why you ask would a site built around "community" and "answers from real humans" would they throw that all away?

You know what I really like about the current trend of using LLMs to build software?

We suddenly write down code design decisions, document architectural choices, and in general write more specs.
Why? Because LLMs need clear context to generate useful code.

This is a big win!

I never, EVER accept LLM output without making it run code to verify what it did (tests, something more manual, whatever).

Neither you nor your LLM can run code in their head. Do not trust, always verify.

Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people
