I love this image, of a plucky caterer, maybe family, working on some celebratory bunting

tall vertical ladder resting on clothesline, clear Midwest September sky, the comfort of stars and stripes in a time and in a place (1936/WI) we imagine more innocent, white apron, rolled slacks, shirt sleeves
pork belly seasoned w/garlic/rosemary/fresh bay/ground cumin and wild Sicilian fennel, seared/briefly roasted, adding peppercorns, juniper berries, chicken stock, vermouth, braised slowly, liquid reduced, cold butter added, w/star fruit, and chives [after the pic];

Pillion is finally in U.S. theaters tonight -- well, NY and LA -- before expanding next Friday. Caught up with Harry Melling to talk about his award-worthy performance, those fun outdoor sex scenes, and realizing he might need to learn how to ride a motorcycle

The United States and Israeli regimes were booed by the rest of the world at the Winter Olympics this week.

The lesson is, you can buy up all the media platforms to push your propaganda and favored narratives…

…but the world will still see you for who you truly are.

“So few actors are in a position to have any kind of autonomy over their career, so if you find yourself in that position, use it and have fun,” Radcliffe, 36, said in a recent interview. “Do as many things you enjoy as you can.”

Harry Melling is on it.
The actor Harry Melling shed his image as Harry Potter’s cruel cousin, Dudley Dursley — and his clothes — to star in the queer romance “Pillion.” Read our interview with Melling about the role. nyti.ms/4kecL7I

coming soon:

Trump issues executive order changing nation’s name to ‘The United State of Trump’

the new flag will be a field of gold, with a monogram ‘T’

the NY Times will write that this is unusual, coming from the White House, and that some people are not in favor of the changes

Trump posted on Truth Social a video depicting the Obamas' heads atop ape bodies. Tim Scott says "it’s the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House."

I'd be curious to hear from Sen. Scott what are the second- and third-most racist things he's seen out of this White House.

SaneWashing means willfully ignoring this, because there is just no way for Corporate Media to make this palatable for the typical American. NYT, if pressed, will note that Trump said some something “controversial” that some “administration opponents” believe to be racially motivated.
Can a reporter please print out this screenshot on a large poster and hold it up in front of every Republican and ask them if they support Donald Trump posting this racist garbage, that way they can’t pretend they didn’t see it — again?

10 years of endless interviews of Trump supporters in midwestern diners, but midwest erupts into greatest resistance campaign in decades and Corporate Media is completely uninterested in giving them a voice. False equivalency was a generous lie, Corporate Media is pro-Republican/MAGA, anti-US.

I'm sorry but this story is bullsh*t. Katie Britt was so worried about Liam Ramos that she did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HELP HIM? Come on. This section right here shows Britt's true self.

genocidal murders that continue to be key to US foreign - and domestic - policy, as well as that of Germany and other states
"The scientific literature shows that more than 120,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023. If one attempts to account for the most obvious of design limitations in the Gaza Mortality Survey, it’s clear that the death toll is likely greater than 215,000." - @ferozesidhwa.org

It’s kind of an obvious point but the disparity between the UK and US responses to Epstein is wild. In Britain the scandal might well bring down the PM, even though he wasn’t in the files at all. While in the US, the president and many others who were deeply incriminated just blithely carry on

I think it looks much better this way

especially knowing the earlier history
The crown of Empress Eugénie was one of nine invaluable royal ornaments snatched by burglars during the Louvre heist in October, but the thieves dropped it on the sidewalk before making their escape. The Louvre announced it will soon invite restorers to submit proposals for the crown’s repair.
