Non-protesting dad just trying to hustle his kids, as young as 6mo, out of the neighborhood. ICE threw a flash-bang INTO HIS car, all 6 kids in the hospital now.

If anyone wondered how things turn against occupying armies there's a case study playing out in front of you.

So much wrong with this but…they sold his phone?!? Like, for profit?? Now ICE can just confiscate and pawn your property???
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

I know some have been a little unnerved at the aggressive following and noisemaking tactics of the observers. What they don’t realize is that it’s necessitated by what ICE is doing. You have seconds and you need as many eyes on them as possible, and as many people trying to get key info as possible.

They don’t know who they’re taking because:
-they don’t talk to them
-they’re random pedestrians

It is literally indistinguishable from a kidnapping when you see it, except there are so many of them, and they are more heavily armed and armored than any kidnapper would ever be.

The past couple days have made it clear that arresting and prosecuting Johnathan Ross isn’t just the right thing to do, it is necessary to prevent future violence by ICE who have interpreted the situation as “we can do that to whoever we want”
A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

In 2023, I posted my end-of-year wordcount to show that even full-time authors can fall off a cliff.

This year I'm posting it to show you can climb back up.

Life happens. Priorities change. Don't shame yourself for not writing as much as you wanted—celebrate that you made the effort at all.

As a d20 game designer, abilities that let you re-roll ones seem like an obvious design space.

As a game master, though, those critical failures are a crucial tool for creating memorable (and often hilarious) storytelling moments.

Plans randomly going sideways is one of the best parts of TTRPGs!

Instagram keeps showing me perfume ads that are like "do you need a perfume that smells like ✨this✨?" and it's just a dozen pictures of people smoking.

Who is this for? Have we become so drunk on nostalgia that smelling like the upholstery in a 1998 Denny's is retro-chic? 🤨

Ran a D&D heist the other night where three otyughs lived in the manor's cesspit, guarding that entrance and consuming the filth.

I'm proud/not proud that the passphrase to get by them was "all you can eat bidet."

It's okay to throw away a book. They're not sacred talismans. You can recycle it because it's bad, or because the author is awful, or for any reason. You do not need to keep it on your shelf or donate it or sell it or dump it in a little free library. It's not inherently more ethical to do so.

How I imagine the pitch meeting for SINNERS:

Ryan Coogler: What if you could have two Michael B Jordans?

Producer: I have imagined this frequently, yes.

Coogler: But wait—they're also wearing matching 1930s suits.

Producer: I HAVE THE VAPORS *passes out, money rains down from ceiling*

People are always surprised to learn how little creators actually own in comics, games, etc. Big corporate brands are usually built on a work-for-hire model, meaning creators get paid once and then the *company* owns their ideas forever. This is why independent/creator-owned work is so important.
Miles Morales co-creator Sara Pichelli says she does not get any royalties from the ‘Spider-Verse’ films, Insomniac games, or merch

"I don’t get anything … that's the saddest part of my life"

The amazing @colleenaf.bsky.social made a banned books RPG for her local library and got a bunch of YA authors to record cutscenes as NPCs. Here's me as the pirate captain who runs the local costume shop. (And yes, I had all of these in my closet already.)
