David Brooks, who wrote in the NYT last month, "The Epstein Story? Count Me Out" is... in the latest Epstein photo dump published by @oversightdemocrats.house.gov.

He should absolutely be fired by NYT for this. Major conflict of interest that he didn't disclose.

The children’s dentist office waiting area has a trashy morning zoo style radio program on, which is alternating between a sordid “catch a cheater” call-in program and religious Christmas carols.

Donald Trump has pardoned the Kansas City Chiefs from not making the playoffs. Experts are not divided on whether this is permissible under the constitution.

Having a great time hanging out with my friend Tom Waits, who is just outside the frame.
A guy walked by while I was setting up to take this photo and asked what was special about this alley. He said people are always taking pics of it. I dunno, probably because it looks cool?

Breaking: in a 6-3 shadow docket vote, the Supreme Court has ruled that the Indiana State Senate is simply not allowed to vote down Trump’s gerrymander, and it must go into effect by tomorrow morning.

I just woke up from a long tortuous dream where I ran into Ethan Hawke, he was super cool, agreed to a selfie together… and then for several hours I repeatedly tried and failed to get the photo because of various technical and personal issues. Phones dying, weird phones I’d never seen, etc.

There are specific reasons for this that most of us somewhat agree on. But I kind of wonder if those specifics are mainly circumstantial, and that humanity has some sort of Tower of Babel failsafe built into the system that just kicks in and knocks us back a few spaces when we get too dangerous.
I feel like one of the most underrated explanations for what's happening right now in global politics is that almost everyone has lost their minds.

Such classic gaslighting it's an instructive moment. The question is not whether generic is better or worse, it's that a list with more expensive brand names is not the same as a list with cheaper generics. Perverting that truth into an attack on those calling it out is Manipulation 101.
Hassett: "On one of the Sunday shows, the anchor criticized the fact Walmart said the Thanksgiving dinner is cheaper by about $10. Then he said, 'Oh yeah, but they substituted generic stuff,' as if having a generic something is a crime for ordinary folks! It shows how out of touch these people are."

This has an 80s movie feel to it. The beta bullies are lining up to give the freak his swirlies, per usual protocol, but the alpha bully has unexpectedly decided that the freak is cool now, and therefore off limits.

while I’m being cranky, access journalism needs to go. When the president does his “I’m alpha because I insulted you” thing somebody needs to fall on his sword and say “what the fuck is wrong with you, old man?” on a hot mic. the hero of the wizard of Oz is Toto.

The thing is, getting busted about his cheap-ass tacky spray painted Home Depot decorations and lying about it… the whole process is theater that reinforces his base. They WANT to see his shitty Jedi mind trick act, and he knows this and he does this stuff to give his people their serotonin boost.
CONFIRMED: the gold snot covering the Oval Office is $58-apiece onlays from Home Depot that have been spraypainted.

When Laura Ingraham confronted Trump about this in the Oval—specifically and correctly noting that the tacky garbage was from Home Depot—he lied to her face and insisted it wasn't.
