This is good news for the state budget. Lawmakers need to focus on using this extra revenue to protect Mainers from the harmful policies coming from DC, and not be duped into providing more corporate tax giveaways #mepolitics

Also notable - the Maine Principals' Association has had a policy of allowing trans kids to participate in school sports since 2013, but only now Senator Collins is concerned about it? Journalists should ask her why it was fine for 12 years but is now bad.
3 weeks ago, Senator Collins wouldn't tell us where she stood on protecting Mainers from gun violence because it was a state issue that "she doesn't usually weigh in on." But she'll make an exception for excluding trans kids #mepolitics

I have to imagine Jared Golden wouldn’t appreciate Congress setting policies for the Lewiston PD. The way DC’s right to self government regularly gets trampled by Congress is crazy.
These 20 House Democrats just joined Republicans in voting to fully repeal DC's police reform laws.

Wiping off the books critical laws on use of force, transparency, and preventing violent cops from getting rehired.

They think that they should have more say over DC police than the people of DC.

Also disappointingly little discussion of the Wizard’s infrastructure plans. Why is he building a highway system when Oz already has such an efficient rail network? Maybe they’re saving that for Part 3.

At top of Press Herald's home page right now.

It'd be one thing if they covered e.g. Susan Collins complicity in the corrupt/lawless abuse of executive power under Trump w/ anything like the vigor/tenacity the moment demands.

This is because it removes a crucial ingredient of production in key sectors like food and construction, without reducing demand much.

Aside from the fascism, so much of this is backwards.

Undocumented immigrants are construction workers
They pick fruits and vegetables for low wages
They commit crimes at lower rates than citizens
They pay into Social Security without drawing it down
They're even more likely to use transit
