I wrote a little about one of my favourite neurodivergent brain hacks… a well timed ‘productive distraction’.

It’s a good way to transition from one big thing to another… with a carefully chosen little thing in the middle.

Mark Kelly would be an excellent president. A literal life of service and achievement in science and public life.

He’s everything trump isn’t.
Re: Kelly

They're about to give a man who would be an unbeatable presidential nominee a huge moral platform and I don't think they've thought this through.

Yay. Mostly finished with emails, paperwork and messages…. About 3ish hours today.

Time to go do some nerdy things :)

Ann always writes beautifully, this article is no exception. Well worth a quick read for anyone involved in neurodiversity stuff.
New blog for the lovely national Autism Central team that I work with. This one, on autism and intersectionality. www.autismcentral.org.uk/news/blog-in...

The aim of the project? A world where autistic people and their loved ones can find joy.

I think that’s something worth aiming for.

Do you?

3 infant #pertussis deaths this year in Kentucky. "Of the three infant deaths reported over the past 12 months, all three were not vaccinated, nor were their mothers."

We first tested maternal vaccination for whooping cough over 80 years ago. It's safe & effective & might have saved these babies.

Only in fascist Trump America can a decorated veteran be threatened with a court marshal for telling the men and women of our military not to follow an illegal order!

First accessibility barrier with Animal Crossing… being able to see the little glimmer that indicates I watered the right areas.

A more obvious watering indicator would be really helpful.

Animators, whats the best software option for some really simple storyboarding? something that lets you add an audio track, layers for individual elements, and some simple tweening/maybe a curve editor for timing?

Woo. Automation work done. Gotta add some more test cases tomorrow to cover off unusual edge cases…. Then it’s ready to merge and deploy.

Going to stop that now. Do some emails and LinkedIn messages… then start winding down for the evening.

Super happy with how today has gone. Mega snoozy too.

Lunch was yummy :)

Next stop… glue together some automation stuff for @ermiltd.bsky.social then a call with a supplier to try and understand some confusing pricing info.

Much woosh and away we go :)

Off our to find some fresh bread for beans + sausages on toast for lunch :)

Then doing more nerdy automation stuff when I get back :)

Was really confused reading something till I realised ‘NHS Bodies’ wasn’t referring to people’s bodies.

It means regional NHS organisations :)

That report makes way more sense now. I was getting a little worried…

ADHD meds have worked really nicely today. Helpful without making me any less bouncy.

That said… i took them at 5am and there wearing off already. Time to ride out the crash with a bit of Animal Crossing and dozing :)

Very fun morning. Yay! So bouncy. Had a heap of fun with the show and tell :)

Weird combo of skills doing a weird combo of things.

Really enjoyed the little research project I’m presenting today.

Much bouncy for this little ‘show and tell’ session. I have a weird collection of skills and it’s really nice when they all sort of come together into something really novel :)

Genuinely just playing with tech to see what works :)

Kinda impressed how long the Intel Macs are lasting.

One of my friends is using an 8 year old MacBook Pro for thier Uni work and it’s holding up really well

The only thing we’ve modified is to add a USB WiFi card for better range + compatibility with new standards.

Beyond that, it’s been great!

Had a crazy busy weekend with friends and I’ve not been sick for 7 entire days in a row.

Woohoooo :)
November 24, 2025 at 6:30 AM
Up early writing some slides for a 9am call… mostly to keep my brain on track rather than for the pretty visuals :)

The slides remind me which anecdotes and stories to tell… getting them in the right order to make sense to other people :)

Same experience here. Easily 90% of the students I’ve chatted to have rejected AI slop and hold a healthy pragmatic skepticism for everthing AI tells them.

It’s encouraging as heck.

AI can absolutely support learning when used the right way… AI slop courses aren’t the right way.
What I've been noticing lately in convos with students is that they *despise* the AI-slopification of everything as much or even more than I do. And yet our universities & their admin seem to believe that students for some reason want it integrated into everything. THEY DON'T.
“To be sat there with this material in front of you that is just really not worth anyone’s time, when you could be spending that time actually engaging with something worthwhile, is really frustrating,” he said.
