Hey new folks! Welcome!

Indie #horror director here. Check out my debut feature on Tubi.

If I ever get to do this again, I’m sure I’ll post about the experience. Might even gain valuable insight eventually. Maybe. Give me a follow and we’ll see.

At 2:17 am last night, Rob Schneider went out his front door, ran into the dark, and he never came back...
I love that this reads like they disappeared with him

Also just realized that Derrickson’s son Atticus composed that kickass score. #BlackPhone2
Scott Derrickson and @crobertcargill.bsky.social have outdone themselves with this one. Cast too. Everyone here is at the top of their game.

Moving on to the next stop on our annual Flanagan watch-thru. I love the family dynamic of HILL HOUSE, but BLY is about a FOUND family, and that is perfectly splendid.

Didn’t have a chance to catch this one last year, despite being eager to see @katesiegel.bsky.social make her directorial debut. Finally rectified that last night and am happy to confirm that her segment was a standout in an overall solid entry to the franchise. Can’t wait to see what she does next.

after millions of views and shares of my Portland Frog art. (thank you all🙏🏾) I got requests to highlight priests, and chickens, and Chicagoans, and T-Rexes, and more… all of us who refuse to bend the knee. so this is for US.

I like this shot from episode one. The camera doesn’t follow when Luke comes down the stairs; it only tilts down after Luke says “I’m sorry”, at which point he almost immediately leaves the frame. The camera follows the emotional beats over the action. Simple but effective visual storytelling.

Here are the Top 5 Dogs of the week!
I recall a few years ago some movie going into production that was using a deepfake of James Dean and the director saying that “only James Dean could play the role”. And I’m like: but James Dean ISNT playing the role. His face is. A director should know the distance.

You don’t need AI; AI is not “inevitable.” That’s a lie being fed to you by companies who are going to lose a fuckton of money if they don’t convince you that AI is something you can’t live without.
NVIDIA and OpenAi:

Concerns that their “increasingly complex and interconnected web of business transactions is artificially propping up the trillion-dollar AI boom.“

What I wouldn’t give to shadow Flanagan on set and learn from him.

Re-read this for the first time in several years, and I think I can confidently call it my favorite King novel. It encompasses everything that draws me to King — all his strongest themes explored in a manner that is as pure and concise as ever.

I went through the same thing at 24. After all, Stephen King had been published at 24. 🙃 But no career is on the same timeline. We all have so much living to do and writing techniques to learn before it clicks. Then one day you wake up and you’re there. Not the way you imagined, but in YOUR OWN way.
When I turned 25 I was legit deeply concerned that I had not yet written The Great American Novel, now at 56 if I could time travel back to meet that young fellow worried about not having birthed a True Work of Timeless Art in his first quarter century, I would, lovingly, turn the hose upon him
I need to hear this as a late 20-something who's worried that if I haven't had a solid career since 18, my life is pointless.
I always loved how much @thekingcast.bsky.social appreciated this one, and will sorely miss hearing Scott Wampler discussing it.

WEREWOLVES was rejected by every film festival we submitted it to. Then Universal bought it. This echoes my entire career. Never a festival darling but always got my films distributed by major labels.

Don’t let anyone stop you.
My current career goal is to make my second first feature.

Really, truly, this might be one of the best scores ever composed for TV, @jagward.bsky.social.
