@web.kim my question about Grok wasn’t meant to offend. Apologies.

Ignoring SCOTUS. And? Nothing Trump is doing is surprising. He can’t surprise me. I keep saying this. How could he? What is surprising is that people actually have the audacity to think they are forever immune from his cruel and criminal impulses.

Too many Americans seem to be more and more comfortable with inhumanity. Choose not to become jaded. Choose to be impressed by kindness. Choose to make a big deal about decency. Choose not to normalize fascist cruelty. Speak honestly about the evil we’re witnessing. Choose.

Whenever I see someone driving a Tesla these days, I just assume they are a Nazi sympathizer. That’s just reality. And that will never change.

The disappearing of Mahmoud Khalil, a person with permanent legal status in the US, should be a red line that everyone should recognize.

They knocked on his door and vanished him into an authoritarian system without a trace.

Your door could be next.

So It Begins: The Disappearing of Mahmoud Khalil and Authoritarian Capture
The Trump Administration kidnapped a legal permanent resident and shuffled him through an authoritarian maze. We're witnessing the beginnings of something terrifying

Such proud cruelty everywhere. Such proud division. Such proud prejudice. Such overwhelming greed. Hold onto your humanity. Tell the actual truth. Keep your faith. Breathe. Watch. Strive. Period.

It’s not enough for some to have everything they need. To have wealth. Nope. Their fulfillment seems also to depend on knowing that others don’t have what they need. “If everyone is content, what makes me special?” A mindset that continues to fuel unnecessary suffering.

Musk keeps talking. His fans keep cheering. And the planes keep crashing.

LITERALLY the antithesis of everything America has ever claimed to stand for as a country.

Musk is the embodiment of the existential danger of one individual having ungodly wealth.

Once upon a time, a country was founded by slaughtering Native Americans. Then it prospered by enslaving Black human beings. Then it pretended to have overcome these absolute sins. Then it decided to elect a birther racist who has now turned the country over to an apartheid Nazi.

We are all witnesses. Even those with their eyes closed.
The world’s largest human rights organization is now affirming the growing consensus among credible experts: Israel is indeed committing genocide in Gaza.

In a better world, it wouldn’t require courage to speak the truth. But in this world, Amnesty International deserves credit for speaking up!

Some Democrats think the party has gone too far left and needs to readjust towards the “center.”

Rubbish.

Where’s the center between democracy and oligarchy, and why would Democrats want to be there?

It’s amazing what not watching MSNBC and CNN will do for your health. I haven’t watched either in about a year.

Breaking a ceasefire OVER 100 TIMES IN THREE DAYS really speaks to how desperate Netanyahu is to remain in as many wars as possible, because he knows full well he’ll be kicked out of office the moment there’s a modicum of peace.

Stop criticizing the people who are calling out the genocide in Gaza and start criticizing the people who are committing the genocide in Gaza.

They’re nauseating and shameless to the point where I just don’t even think I can deal with it anymore. Liberal echo chamber hell.
I need centrists to understand that in the absence of Trump supporters on Bluesky, the "MAGA" here is basically you, so dial back your confidence and think before you type. The information gap between you and the progressives, plus your wanton disregard for humanity, is just too big to ignore.

It is a major problem that the Trump coalition is solidified, while Democrats in power seem stupidly committed to building an opposition composed of liberals and Never-Trumper neocons—a coalition the left is rightly repulsed by and one that just lost the House, Senate, and WH.

We live in a country where the previous president got away with trying to overthrow the election in broad daylight, and where the current president who let him get away with it has been facilitating a genocide in Gaza for over a year with a war criminal wanted by The Hague.

Listen. People need to wake up and see that there is a concentrated effort to discredit anyone questioning the liberal veer to the Right and the orthodoxy of abandoning gay/trans/Gazans/people of color/women/the poor in pursuit of a MAGA-like Democratic Party.

We’re in the shit. See it. Act on it.
Really wild seeing liberal aligned accounts just straight up fash jacketing me. Even more wild as a well known anti fascist academic and expert in authoritarianism. This is why we all have been warning these people are liars and conspiracists being led around by bad actors. Vet your follows.

The idea that "incumbents everywhere are losing" is just ... not true. It's not just Mexico: in Taiwan, Greece, Croatia, and others, incumbents were re-elected or increased their vote share.

Pushing the idea that it was inevitable only serves to shield the party and campaign from justifiable blame.
It's become accepted as common knowledge that Harris and Democrats were doomed to lose as part of a global, inflation-induced backlash against incumbents.

Our @jeffhauser.bsky.social and @kjboyle.bsky.social looked at global elections in 2023 and 2024 to show that's not really true.
Inflation Did Not Make A Democratic Loss Inevitable | Revolving Door Project
Following Harris' loss, popular belief suggests inflation lead to the downfall of all incumbents globally. It's not really true.
