My husband and I have been really into binging reality television lately. One thing we've noticed is that all of the random production assistants wear medical masks when interacting with the cast. There is a reason for that. Don't let the media convince you that it's extreme to protect your health.

For most people, the pandemic days of masking are behind us. In certain corners of the Winter Olympics, though, things still look a lot like they did in Covid times. Some athletes are taking extreme measures to stay healthy. n.pr/4akK70l

This is inevitably coming to pretty much any channel where age verification is going to be required for certain content. This won't be a big hit to Discord communities that keep things accessible to any age audience, but I can imagine this is going to cause a stir...

I would actually be really interested in seeing the output of the reports of that "impact-evidence". The fact it looks at bugs, and also AI usage vs human-written code, could yield some interesting data on whether AI code generation provides the results needed. And have a good scale of data inputs.
Meta now forcing all employees to use AI tools and tying it to employee performance, according to @theinformation.com.

HR said "this is not an activity tracker—it’s an impact-evidence starter"

That's a fun way to rebrand workplace surveillance.

Morning thought: would somebody want this if you didn't tell somebody it had AI in it?

I'm editing a video I made about using the Puppet MCP server to create a new module and this is what I'm thinking about... if this wasn't AI, would this be interesting?

I've been banging my head against GitHub CoPilot trying to figure out why it wasn't following my custom instructions file. Asking the LLM why it didn't follow them was no help. It told me "my bad" and made useless changes which it then also ignored.

The clincher was .github\copilot-instructions.md

As usual, Robin is spot-on with his takes on Reddit as a "channel" in your developer outreach:
1. Don't shill there
2. Don't sell there
3. Don't try to MQL there
4. Don't "check out my article" there

There are ways to engage on Reddit. Worth the few minutes to read!

This is a great post on the importance of building trust for growth: www.elenaverna.com/p/growth-is-...

The focus is more on SaaS products, but I think a lot of this applies to any type of team trying to get folks to choose their product over the competition.

The difference between "dev" and "ops" is not about who writes code. It's 2026, dude: everyone writes code.

The difference is a separation of concerns. Are you responsible for writing code to generate revenue, or building the systems for code to run on?

Bring Back Ops Pride
"Operations" is not a dirty word, a synonym for toil, or a title for people who can't write code. May those who shit on ops get the operational outcomes they deserve.

Using VS Code Copilot today (instead of my usual Cursor) and a little astounded by the jump they've made since I tried it out last year. Used to be completely awful, but now starting to get there. I find it still requires more effort than working with Cursor, but they are definitely closing the gap.
