I am queer. I love transit and i am a transit geek and enjoy city living. I love Arsenal, TFC You can find me in 114 for TFC.
i am also a comic collector and pop culture lover.
You hate trans folk, i hate you.
The TTC is the operator, they’re purposely running the line at reduced speeds. Doesn’t the city decide if TSP is used?
I constantly hear in some planning circles that "speed isn't a big issue for new transit", downplaying issues with our new LRTs.

and yet today i heard sooo many riders, young and old, ask "why is it so slow?"

"transit should be frequent, reliable, and FAST" shouldn't be a hot take!

👏🏿
Toronto’s first new rapid transit line since 2002 opened today. There’s a time and place to find fault with Line 6 Finch West, but for me, today was all about celebrating with my father & my son, & continuing a family 1st day ride tradition dating back to 1954!

What i hated about the hype over Bramptons ridership growth was no one talked about brampton being a popular place for int. students, instead the story was “high frequency routes attracting riders.” and “run more buses.”
Now we see BT ridership crashed hard

A recent report to city council found that the sharp year-over-year drop in Brampton Transit ridership has caused a $26-million decline in fair revenue.

Line 1 is running somewhat. slow between Yorkdale and Cedarvsle stations.
Not unbearably slow, though.
December 7, 2025 at 8:12 PM
Exactly. The line wasn’t built for slow speed, it’s the TTC that is running the LRVs slower than they can run.
The optimistic take is all those limitations (aside from the curve restrictions: don’t know enough about the engineering there) could be changed with political will. They could happen overnight…(not saying they will anytime soon)

Line 3 is under construction, line 5 is opening soon.
So now Toronto transit has lines 1, 2, 4 & 6 lmfaooo
December 7, 2025 at 8:03 PM
So Line 6..

Feels like the TTC/City is afraid to fully utilize the line yet.

The LRV speed feels like operators have been told to maintain a certain speed which is slower than what i’ve seen during testing.
December 7, 2025 at 7:56 PM
I asked a couple of riders who rode the entire line end to end and asked them how long it took.

The answers varied. One said 35 minutes, other said 40 minutes.

Between Kipling and Islington, the LRV moves fast.
December 7, 2025 at 6:41 PM
After Westmore, the LRV runs at a decent speed, between Albion and Kipling it’s slow. Needs improvement.
December 7, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Me and my friend drove to Humber College to ride. Why is the LRV travelling so slow between Humber College and Westmore?
December 7, 2025 at 6:26 PM
Man, i love this map.
December 7, 2025 at 5:37 PM
There are also washrooms and water fountains at Finch West! Excellent!
December 7, 2025 at 5:34 PM
If the trains ran faster, they would wait at fewer red stops. The speed isn’t fast but it’s consistent, but it’s clear the TTC is purposely running LRVs slow. I’ve seen this practice with Miway.
One thing i noticed is riders don’t seem to be fussed.
December 7, 2025 at 5:31 PM
I’ve waited so long for this line to open. Hearing that it’s slow, sadly.

I'm here to witness a Christmas miracle. Metrolinx actually completing a new LRT line.

Line 6 is officially open.

This is an important point. Public Private Partnerships (P3s) for infrastructure claim to transfer risk to the private sector but they don’t, because it is still public opinion and elected leader support that enables each project. Risk over expensive steel rebar pricing is different than risk […]

Looking at the many comments from the glacial operation on the Finch "LRT" I cannot help thinking that the TTC has a lot of explaining to do about why they "accepted" this from Mlx or if they are responsible for the way it's running.

I hope they’re being paranoid and taking no chances. Can’t wait to ride later and see for myself.

Happy Line 6 opening day! Shane i couldn’t make the first LRV out. Going to ride this afternoon.

I wonder if these people realize how silly they sound? Two stop 170m is why the 505 service sucks? Come on

Kitchener ION has enforced slow zones even with its aggressive TSP. Miway 126 runs slows bc miway insists the travel time between Sq 1 and Kipling must be 36 minutes.
My issue with Line 6 is the 9-12 min headways on the weekends. Needs to be better.
On Reddit the TTC operators say the problem is self sabotage, TTC is operating much slower than the Metrolinx tests, on purpose

Ok, this line won’t be built. If this project. was serious, the the choices would be EMUs or DMUs, not hydrogen.
