Standing in solidarity with colleagues at the CDC who were fired as part of yet another RIF wave.
We are all less safe without their expertise and dedication.
BREAKING: Friday night massacre underway at CDC. Doznes of "disease detectives," high-level scientists, entire Washington staff and editors of the MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) have all been RIFed and received the following notice:

Can we have a Zach Bryan and Bad Bunny collaboration to really send MAGA over the edge.

🧵 #MythBustingTuesday
The CDC reportedly floated separating the MMR into individual shots without any published evidence that doing so improves safety.
Let’s unpack why this myth persists, what the data show, and why countries like Senegal are moving in the opposite direction.

What if NIH had been 40% smaller?

"We analyze 27 years of NIH extramural awards & their review scores to identify the bottom 40% of grants that would have been eliminated from 1980 to 2007... We then identify new molecular entity drugs, approved in the 21st century, that are linked to these grants"

It has become incredibly clear that the current ACIP has these CDC scientist presentations just for show as there is no indication that they plan to listen to any of the evidence presented.
Dr Malone must think we are all just imagining the Covid 19 patients we see in hospital on a daily basis.

Every time these "ACIP members" say anything within the domain of immunology I want to scream. I have yet to hear them correctly explain any aspect of the human immune system.

ACIP members are questioning whether the hepatitis B vaccine should continue to be universally administered to children at birth.

Fact: Implementation of universal birth dose hepatitis B vaccine is the most effective strategy to prevent childhood infections.
I don’t know if these ACIP members are being intentionally obtuse or if they really are that ignorant.

Stated at ACIP: MMRV isn’t acceptable for kids <4 to prevent measles, mumps, rubella & varicella.

❌ False. MMRV/MMR vaccines are safe & highly effective. Studies show only a very small increase in febrile seizure risk after the 1st dose.
I designate the Trump administration as a major terrorist organization!

"Vaccines are safe. They are life-saving, and I would encourage any parent who is concerned about whether or not their child should get a vaccine to talk to their pediatrician to understand the benefits of these life-saving medical products..."

We have 2 vaccines that prevent cancer, the HBV vaccine that prevents hepatitis B related liver cancer and the HPV vaccine that prevents cervical cancer and other HPV associated cancers.
On Thursday, RFK.JR's ACIP will attack one of these vaccines (HBV) and restrict access to it.
Let that sink in!

What is wrong in the world is that some human lives are considered more valuable than others. That is why a journalist can call for homeless people to be killed by lethal injection and get to issue an apology and keep his job.
A society crumbles when it chooses to only see humanity in a chosen few
Brian Kilmeade endorses euthanizing homeless people: "Involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just kill them."

This is why it is important to keep speaking up about the science of vaccines and the need to make sure children are protected from preventable infectious diseases. Not all of it falls on deaf ears. Most parents are not anti-vaccine, those who are just louder.
