Many Ds waiting for '26 and '28 as if these will be typical elections, but no way Trump going to lose. Gerrymandering, mail in EO, & Trump troops in blue states are just the tip of the iceberg. So @schumer.senate.gov @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social @governor.ca.gov what's the plan? #election2026

He’s wanted to declare martial law from day one.

Bypass all checks and rule as a tyrant.

Many have speculated how he’d do it.

Now his gambit is clear.

DC was a test.

He’s using manufactured crime stats to send troops into blue states & cities.

This is not a drill.

Democracy is at defcon 1.

Donald Trump, if you will not stand down, California will be forced to lead an effort to redraw our maps to offset the rigging of maps in red states.

If the other states call off their redistricting efforts, we will do the same. And American democracy will be better for it.

D messaging: 1) Rs blowing up the national debt with tax cuts to the rich, 2) cutting medicare to manage deficits and medicaid starting in 2029 after Trump leaves office, & 3) got his Big Beautiful (golden palace) Qatari plane. That's it. Not complicated. #Budgetbill #Democrats #Qatarjet

Dilemma for the Democrats: They need voters from the "heartland." That means they need to accept, if not embrace, their values, and that's where the party's core can't go. Instead, they pretend and give a nods here and there. #Democracy #Democrats #Elections

@washingtonweekpbs.bsky.social tonight turned Sen. Murkowski's "we're all afraid" comment into a negative - leaders shouldn't show fear. She is just telling us what we're up against. Didn't she for impeachment, whereas others (men, save Mitt), feared to go there? #LisaMurkowski

@thebulwark.bsky.social Andrew Egger piece calling @gavinnewsom.bsky.social a coward is over the top. One might disagree, but respect savvy politicos on what it takes to win elections rather than go high & mighty. Trump masterfully distracts & Ds take the bait. "Gangs" v. tanking the economy?

#DavidBrooks says 4 basic psychological needs are autonomy, belonging, meaning and competence. Making things up? While first 2 are apply to all, the latter 2 are variable - re meaning, many are indifferent; re competence - many are not Bill Bradley types.

We’re four years away from another presidential election and Trump is already laying the groundwork to make it a sham election to rival Russia’s.
President Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday that will require proof of U.S. citizenship on election forms. The move is in an aggressive push to catch and combat voter fraud, which is exceedingly rare but constantly cited by Trump as a reason he lost the 2020 election.

Administration officials cited cracking down on immigrants illegally on voter rolls as one of the executive order’s main goals, amplifying Mr. Trump’s grievances about electoral integrity.
