Both major political parties agree we have one job and it’s to buy shit

Honestly you can eliminate most. Turkey and Stuffing is all you really need. Pumpkin Pie is a nice bonus but doesn't even have to be a thanksgiving-specific thing.
with charity and goodwill, i must here part ways with rolls.

New HIPT: The Dream Is (Probably) Over
hockeyipt.com/2025/11/17/t...

I've rewritten this a couple of times and still have more to say on specific points, but let's start with this. This year's standings could change, but the long-term view on the Leafs feels pretty bleak.
The Dream Is (Probably) Over - Hockey In Paranoid Times
It’s difficult to look at where the Toronto Maple Leafs are right now and not see the end of an era playing out before us. Not because of their record. Yes, being 8-9-2 through 18 games puts them five...

ICYMI, from yesterday. Easily the most-read HIPT post so far, I guess the people want Leafs content

Start to my being out today

- needed a specific bus
- barely missed it
- walked 3km until the next one came
- ended up getting short turned at the split anyway
- “I might still be going that way but I won’t know for another 20 minutes”
- start walking
- bus starts up again a minute later, passes me

Meanwhile, MAGA is still pretending that trans women are the real bathroom threat.
Listen to this Border Patrol agent cry about how he's going to be DOXXED after being arrested for drunkenly barging into a woman's restroom with a loaded gun, demanding a date from the woman inside, and then punching the arresting officers.

The faster MLS gets out of this the better

The upfront money is great, but limiting broadcasts in local markets is killing teams' regional interest.
Apple-MLS renegotiated to end 3 1/2 years earlier, with Apple paying $50mm more per season for 2027-2029 and giving up an early termination option in 2027.

"The league could still extend its Apple deal or sign a new agreement with the tech titan"
Apple, MLS Deal Will End in 2029 With Revised Payment Structure
MLS and Apple's streaming rights agreement will now end three and half years early, letting the league explore new partners after the 2026 World Cup.

Gonna pop this one out of the AMA thread from yesterday because it's the most interesting one anyone asked here or on Twitter.

My answer is no. My channel tapped into a really unserviced niche at the time, but would've been impossible to monetize since it was basically just broadcast recordings.
If you could go back in time would you have invested more time into your YouTube channel considering the views you were getting?

I just spent 30 seconds looking at the date on the family counter with "JEFF!" on it wondering what I did wrong before realizing it was for my birthday coming up

I need to go back to bed

May save some of the ones that can be expanded on further for some blog posts, since I've been lagging on that lately. But will reply to the shorter ones

We're approaching the season where this album shines. One of the truly underrated gems of the early 2010s (recorded in Canada, too!) www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUX9...

Literal dark ages stuff
Under-the-weather TikTokers are slicing raw potatoes and placing them in their — and their children’s — socks before bed. The theory is that the potato draws out toxins.

However, experts warn against relying on folk remedies over medical care.
No, putting a potato in your sock will not cure a cold

Ended up next to Joe Bowen on the Go train back from the rink (to the rink for him, I guess). He definitely didn’t remember me (been a while since we’ve overlapped work wise) but he seemed to appreciate the compliment on his Notre Dame jacket so I’m still happy I said hello on my way off
