I think this is exactly what better, more-authentic resources can and should look like around AI and developing critical awareness in students and teachers alike.

Where are the discussions about teacher shortages in these articles?
How many of these students have been taught year after year by non- or emergency licensed teachers that don't have the pedagogical content knowledge or skills to meet students' needs? www.the74million.org/article/covi...

An opening build + writing activity to open our year!

10 min: free build

10 min: write in one of these genres with a one-page goal in writers notebooks (direction slide included)

Then share your build/writing with seat partners.

Beautiful wisdom from @dianaceja.bsky.social as a new school year begins. #wismath #MTBoS #iTeachMath
The same way we train students to look closely at a growing sequence or shifting figure, we can train our own attention to notice what repeats. Not to judge it, but to understand it.
cuz once we become aware of a pattern we gain the power to keep it shift it heal it

Maybe it’s a pattern of rushing. Of overextending. Of holding your breath in stress.
Maybe it’s a pattern of pausing. Of noticing kindness. Of making space for laughter or light.

Creating a space for students to reflect on their learning throughout the school year has made a world of difference in my classroom—especially in knowing how students see themselves as learners.

(Which, at the end of the day, is what matters.)

This entire thread is fascinating, but I especially love this one, which just may show up as a community building activity in my next PD session.

This is a brilliant way to generate some curiousity around circles in order to motivate the circle theorems which are so often just presented as some mathematical magic. #MTBoS #iTeachMath #WisMath
Can anyone help with a resource? It’s a pre-cursor to circle theorems. There are circles made up of different number of dots and students have to join dots to make different triangles and explore their angles. Anyone know it? I’ve lost it #MathsToday

Two take aways:
AI is not a substitute for high quality instructional materials or expert teachers

The AI generated lesson plan reflects the "school math" content that it was trained on, which is sad.

What Is Wrong with This AI Lesson Plan? - Teacher Tech with Alice Keeler

🪄 I tried a popular lesson planning AI tool and was VERY DISAPPOINTED.
