Sligo’s Atlantic coastline brings drama, from thundering surf at Strandhill to the quiet majesty of Mullaghmore’s headlands to the golden beach at Enniscrone — a landscape that never stops performing. #choosesligo

Carnlough Harbour on the Antrim Coast, a wonderful stop on a trip. First afternoon after a week of rain and stormy weather.

📍 Greenore, Co. Louth, Ireland
🗓️ 24 Jan 2026
Wild and wonderful at Greenore this morning. Ceol na Mara bobbed up and down on a choppy Carlingford Lough. It was low tide, but there was no shortage of wave action. Lots of cloud, no sun but a bit of bright light on the horizon.

Here, the wind doesn’t just blow —
it works. 🌬️
The land has made peace with water,
and time has learned to slow down.

As the Dutch say:
“God created the world, but the Dutch created Holland.”
A windmill quietly connects
the past to the present.

One of my most enjoyable events of 2025 was to attend a textile free sauna session at the excellent Hot Rocks Sauna here in Northern Ireland with stunning views over Lough Neagh during summer. Not something I do often but glad you can experience it here. If in NI, please look up The Hot Rocks Sauna.

Summer giving way to autumn in Carlingford, County Louth. Misty clouds rolling over the hills. Everyone will miss summer but the light and colours autumn brings adds a lot of atmosphere.
