One of my favorite things in GB(C)/GBA Zelda is the ability to equip any item to a button. Born from a limitation, perhaps, but it's such freeing idea. It also promotes decision making quite a lot, which dictates how you're going to approach potential obstacles.

I feel a lot of people are getting the wrong idea on what made Air Ride special.
Its roster of 3 characters was panned at the time because people tend to think "more characters = better", but the real stars (heh) of Air Ride weren't the character roster:
it was the machines and their handling.
