Can always count on @startleseasily.bsky.social for deep cut references to Metro commission meetings from 3 years ago. It’s like a Widespread Panic fan instantly recalling a killer “Ain’t Life Grand” they played in Macon in 1998….

For the amount Darden seemed to have spent on Davidson Co. mail pieces, his result there is notably anemic. It is effectively why he is losing.

Wandered into a whimsical night parade in Atlanta tonight. The Beltline is 15 years ahead of Nashville’s parks and greenways. This is what we should be investing in @freddieoconnell.bsky.social.

Yeah, this “letter” reads like it was written by SomeraRoad’s lobbyist. if only we knew of any ties between Hall Strategies and Mr. Morgan….

Idk, my definition of “catastrophic flooding” includes loss of life and significant structural damages. Curious what’s easy about that clean up…

A Boring Co rep saying “catastrophic flooding would result in a “‘pretty easy cleanup’”

They’re not really an NFL team anymore, at least that’s not the priority. They are primarily an event venue company now. Maximizing that revenue stream is key in order to juice its valuation and then the Adams family’s inevitable sale of at least a substantial minority ownership share….

I am fascinated by mug-in-the-car folks. Like, how does that work at all? I wouldn’t even make it out to my garage with any coffee left in a mug.

Again, I ask what other orders did the Fair Board Chair receive on just this text chain, or in any other communications with Bristol lobbyists? What privileged or confidential Metro information did the Fair Board Chair leak to Bristol’s lobbyists?

Wow I am stunned that a public official would take instructions directly from a special interest

Gee wonder if perhaps Bob couldn’t in good conscience support or defend the merits of a forthcoming proposal?

Not the only recent Fair Board Chair to outsource the Fair Board’s control to James Weaver and Joe Hall….

An ethics complaint has been filed against Jasper Hendricks, chair of the Metro Board of Fair Commissioners and former candidate for Metro Council.

So much Council can do. Absolutely strengthen Metro’s ethics rules & BEC’s powers (James Weaver’s sure opposition be damned). And expand the size of the Fair Board and guarantee multiple community representation slots; is that something @sandrafornash.bsky.social might be willing to look at?

Part of the problem with currently having only 4 members is it makes it much easier to co-opt the limited board members that are there. Also, Councilmembers could make clear that you will refuse to take up a proposal that has such indications of improper conduct attached to it….

BEC is not equipped to conduct an investigation into possibly widespread and long running improper influence within the Fair Board & Fairgrounds. For its part, Council could also exert greater control over the Fairgrounds or at least see to it that the Fair Board has full, impartial membership 1/
jmberg.bsky.social
These already troubled, secret negotiations have taken a darker turn. Will the Mayor or Metro Council demand an independent investigation into Bristol and possible improper influence peddling?
jmberg.bsky.social
It is alleged that the sitting Fair Board Chair was taking direction from Bristol’s lobbyists (among other allegations). What privileged Metro information & strategy has been disclosed to Bristol and others? Who has the Fair Board Chair been advocating for in the negotiations: Metro or Bristol?
Ethics complaint accuses Fair Board chair of accepting inappropriate gift
The complaint, filed last week, comes amid speculation that Mayor Freddie O'Connell could soon propose a racetrack revitalization plan.

I got to be the guest on today’s episode of @citycastnash.bsky.social, which is all about the present and future of sports gambling and why the DraftKings bar is basically a modern Planet Hollywood:

Hilarious spin from someone whose full time job is manufacturing fake public support for corporations and their unpopular proposals. I guess if anyone could astroturf himself into a Bernie-esque man of the people, it would be Darden….

Just in: Darden Copeland, a first time candidate running in the Democratic primary for the district 7 special election, is the first candidate out with fundraising numbers. His campaign reports raising $302,000 and he's put in $100,000 of his own.
