There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge

When people have very long fingernails it triggers some horror deep in my brain. I think it is because it makes the hands look way too large and thin, almost inhuman. A uncanny valley type of thing.

Local news has been focusing on school absences as of late. They frame it in a manner that seems to put the blame on the schools. The school can't do shit to get a kid here. There are no truancy laws.
Its the parents. The parents are responsible for getting their kids here, but no one says this.
