The inescapable conclusion that neither the NYT nor WaPo editorial board can bring themselves to make is that this administration has to end. Its response to these killings—let alone the killings themselves—is obscene and totally disqualifying.
NYT EDITORIAL BOARD:

“.. When the government kills, it has an obligation to demonstrate that it has acted in the public interest. Instead, the Trump administration is once again engaged in a perversion of justice.”

Wise words from WEB DuBois to gird us today: "It would be shame and cowardice to surrender this glorious land and its opportunities for civilization and humanity to the thugs and lynchers, the mobs and profiteers, the monopolists & gamblers who today choke its soul and steal its resources."

This is interesting, though: we have a new chancellor, Tom Gibson, who came to us from UW-Stevens Point last summer. So I wondered: did UWSP try to camouflage its DEI office by changing its name? Looks like it didn't. www.uwsp.edu/equity-diver...

e.g. at my university - just one of those hundreds or thousands
This must be weird news to see if you’re one of the literally hundreds or even thousands of university administrators who preemptively censored faculty, scrubbed websites, changed the names of centers, etc.
Trump administration drops legal appeal over anti-DEI funding threat to schools and colleges. This leaves in place a federal judge's ruling that the anti-DEI effort violated the First Amendment and federal procedural rules. (Via AP) apnews.com/article/dei-... #ncpol #nced

As if I could love David Tennant any more - and then he does things like this. What a treasure.
"In recent history, the Doctor Who actor has repeatedly made headlines thanks to his allyship towards trans and gender non-conforming people – most notably with a subtle gesture during a TV interview that wound up helping to raise £18,000 for the LGBTQ+ youth charity AKT."
'F*** Off And Let People Be': David Tennant Doubles Down On Support For Trans People
"People are trying to create division... and it's so f***ing unnecessary."

On p.3 tomorrow: "These Regulars at Diner in Western PA React to the President's Latest Tough Words for His Detractors."
The New York Times' story about Trump calling for the execution of members of Congress ran on Page 16 today, with an itty-bitty promo on the front about halfway down the page.
No wonder Trump thinks he can get away with anything.

This is baffling. Why would students from other countries not want to come study in The Greatest Country in the World™ in the Year of Our Lord 2025?

I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.

It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Asking anyone who's got energy to do so to call their Dem Senators and urge them not to back down on healthcare. 🙏

Your friends who are too sick to work to access healthcare are going to be really fucked otherwise. Being too sick to work means no paycheck to cover now-exorbitant marketplace plans.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt: maybe this is their way of answering the question being frequently asked since last Tuesday: which is the way forward, centrism or progressivism?

Okay, that's obviously not what they're doing - not intentionally, anyway!
Why would voters reward a political party with power when it refuses to wield it?

That’s a question Democrats are going to have to answer if they surrender on this shutdown.

I can totally understand his frustration because I sent some vibes Zohran's way, hoping he'd get them and reach out to get a beer or go to a club with me, and so far it's crickets for me too.
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."
