Oh, it's just a call center scam. That's all the US economy is now. Call center scams. Rerouting, delays, dropping your call. Everyone at Comcast should be fucking ashamed.

This is a nightmare of a PR, and I'm surprised the maintainers didn't just perma-ban the author after his repeat unwillingness to incorporate any feedback whatsoever about his fully AI-generated code, complete with false attribution in the files themselves

like w-h-a-t sir please be serious
One of the many joys of using AI for programming is the creation of huge PRs on complex topics that the authors barely understand, but still suggest "because they work". Here's a great example from #OCaml github.com/ocaml/ocaml/...

Kudos to OCaml's maintainers for handling this so gracefully.

AI coding has revealed just how many people in our industry don’t appreciate that for any long lived code the cost of initial implementaion is absolutely dwarfed by the cost of maintenance. So much that for long lived projects we can consider: cost of code = cost of maintenance.

Yeah 😔 I know I’m not worthless, but I also know society sees me as worthless & that has real consequences
sick people should be able to count on social programs for care so we don't have to put ourselves through self-esteem shredding relationships just to get sufficient help

I feel so incredibly worthless today and am questioning why I'm even on this planet, and while part of me knows--

well, the r/lyme subreddit seems to maybe be a nice place and I may spend more time on there

oh goodness this is cute

I can't help but caption this photo like the wee escaped bb alligator in Boston last week (or whenever it was)

"do you guys have any games on your phone?"

There's plenty to criticize here but if that's a rosary he's holding I want to slap it the fuck out of his hands
Over many interviews, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told Michael Scherer about how he plans to remake America’s public-health system. Can he lead the scientific establishment he’s spent much of his life crusading against?

This whole thing is terrible (what the article itself details + the news site mucking up the article with AI) but the "oh hey, here for the article, what about us trying to sell you stuff for Black Friday instead?" really says the quiet part out loud about what the end game is for forced AI products
I was actually trying to read the article, but had to scroll past & work to avoid any stray clicks landing on this:

I'm trying to read the damn article, which presumably has answers to those questions, which I can find by ... reading the article.

Y’all, things are dire since my car has been stolen a week before our move. We were counting on having it. Things have been really rough & being on disability, which I’ve been on since my lymphoma diagnosis, limits my budget drastically. If you can help or share I’d be grateful.

(If it is good, I'll be happy to share the rough recipe I came up with!)

Anytime I see a gluten free baking recipe that just calls for "gluten free flour", I'm like...you are not serious people

The constitution of gluten-free flour can vary widely, and matters in taste and texture to the final product!

Yeah, I honestly think at this point, AI boosters are going to make AI even less popular than it would have otherwise been.

Many of them are being smug and aggressive, who wants to pay the tax of dealing with smug and aggressive people to get to know a new technology? (rhetorical)
I’ve said it many times, but forcing AI on users is a clearly bad decision.

If a capability works well users will choose it, being forced into it just makes them resent the forced decision.
So, I'm really kind of fucking annoyed and disappointed with Mozilla enabling AI in Firefox by default and not giving users a simple opt out switch.

I have disabled it in my firefox via 'about:config' , if you want to too, here's how to disable it completely or enable certain bits you find useful

if Pope Leo wanted to fight the tide of adult convert tradcaths by making the Church cool such that all the wayward cradle Catholics think about returning again

this is probably the exact sort of thing he'd do lol

not saying that's necessarily his goal, but would sure be aligned with such a goal
He said "Amen" straight into the drop

Lmao Pope Leo threw a rave for an archbishop's 75th birthday this is kind of incredible

where was the outrage when it could have prevented this
