Take that kind of hate speech to X.

Is there not an island lacking an ambassador that’s a little further away?
johnnicolay.bsky.social
Why is it flawed logic?

I’d say it’s a 100% certainty, given the quantity of reserves/resources and where they are located.

Once upon a time, environmentalists understood that FF emissions had to be tackled on the demand side …

For this evening’s performance, the role of Hans Frank will be played by Ilan Wurman.

Why are you even asking that question?

Macron remarks are notable- some quotes: "We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."

President Macron: “Europeans, let's wake up!

We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks.”

What is wrong NYT reporters these days, Eric?

This would blatantly contravene existing law. There’s nothing unclear about it; it’s black-and-white. By suggesting that there is uncertainty about that, you are misinforming your readers.

And your readers think they know why.

Can you not see how saying that anyone who accurately predicted the trajectory of the Republican Party 20 years ago is wrong, and people who dismissed those concerns were right, contains a certain tension with how analytical models are normally evaluated?
johnnicolay.bsky.social
You’re the one with no ideology, right?
johnnicolay.bsky.social
It seems to me that your position boils down to: American democracy is currently in an existential crisis, but anyone who is one iota more alarmed than you are, or saw it happening a minute earlier, is a filthy commie and not to be taken seriously.
johnnicolay.bsky.social
That proves very little. When did *the Republican Party* take a step back and recommit to liberal democracy?

Seems to me like they were on a straight line the whole time, and having one party going off the rails in a two party system is incredibly dangerous, even when they’re not in power.

So 20 years ago, Tom, when people like me were pointing to things that the Bush Administration was doing that we thought undermined democratic norms and increased polarisation in a way that was dangerous to civil society, did we have Bush Derangement Syndrome or were we right?

Did Lutnick know what he was doing here, or did he just get carried away by the sound of his own voice (and the thrill of Miranda Devine hanging on every word)?
meidastouch.com
Lutnick on Epstein:

Devine: So how come these other people could hang around him and not see it?

Lutnick: They participated. That's what his M.O. was, "Get a massage" And what happened in that massage room, I assume is on video. This guy was the greatest blackmailer ever. That's how he had money.

Unfortunately, there is not a journalist in America with the balls to ask Peter Hegseth the obvious question about fat people in the chain of command.

Secretary of Bravado Pete Hegseth brought the generals before him to fat shame them

(and brag that he can do push-ups)

I respect your determination to remain naive about how electoral politics works, Steve. It keeps you pure.

I suspect if you ran the poll again today, the biggest issue would be the purge at @6newsau.bsky.social.

Just going to re-up this. Bullies want people to be under their control, so they can hurt them for fun. Bullies fear real conflict, because real conflict is by definition NOT under their control. Real conflict raises the prospect of them losing, and they are cowards. You beat MAGA by fighting it.
whstancil.bsky.social
That’s why it’s so absurd when people say “we can’t fight Trump, he thrives on conflict.” Bullies like Trump do not thrive on genuine conflict with real stakes. They thrive on fake conflict they can win and control. They fear real conflict immensely. Conflict is how you beat them. They are cowards.

Do you mean the fellow who has learned his lesson about being too reticent to ask tough questions about the fitness of a President while in office?

Here’s a thought.

Resign, and support a minority leader that’s up to the job of opposing authoritarianism.

We’re losing not because Trump is popular and strong but because the opposition is obsessed with finding clever tricks to win his voters by talking about unrelated things, rather than talking about the only thing that matters right now, which is how bad he is.
