This sums up my position, though I was only born in 1961.
Macmillanite, Keynesian, mixed economy... centre-right in the '60s, far-left now.
Letter from Dr Stephen Watkins; Text as follows:

In 1962 I was a Conservative. I believed privilege could only be justified by service, high taxes on very high incomes were necessary to prevent an entrepreneurial economy becoming a rentier economy, and Keynesian growth would finance public service improvements and a welfare state that steadily reduced inequality. I was suspicious of ideologically driven, large-scale change. These were the mainstream policies of the Macmillan government at the time. In 60 years I have moved from centre right to hard left without changing my opinions.

CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow embodied what a journalist should be: someone who holds power to account instead of capitulating to it.

Over 70 years later, his segment denouncing Joe McCarthy’s congressional witch hunts rings truer than ever.

So the government's case against Letitia James is that she she bought a house for a family member to live in rent-free and visited said family frequently, but that she should have declared it as a for-profit rental to Fannie Mae? And they expect a conviction on that?

It's disturbing to see Hispanics arresting other Hispanics, as if they consider themselves superior to those they are apprehending.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

Many of us grew up in the church being taught to root for Moses, Daniel, and John the Baptist in the Bible, only to grow up and have our churches question our faith for not cheering on the Pharaohs, Nebuchadnezzars, and Herods in our world today.

British people unaware of the reality of ethnicity and culture in the U.S. might find paying attention to Baseball a bit of an education. Look at the big stars, the heroes, the record-breakers. Who they are, where they’re from.

It says a lot that Trump can find $20 billion to bail out Argentina, but won't help the millions of Americans who are in real need at home.

So much for “America First.”

People freaking out over the Chat-fishing dating-app article seem to miss that this is the *whole point* of ChatGPT and similar generative AI: writing as though you’re something other than you are. The whole idea is deception. Writing like a pro, like a lawyer etc, when you’re too lazy to be one.

Or to write like people who write.

Being a person of letters wasn't restricted to certain professions.

The ability to write and communicate clearly is a skill which was at one time commonplace. I suppose that the generation below me will be the last for which that is true.

More to the point, I want to write like me, not someone else, whether that's the humour, unexpected idea or vocabulary, or the fallibility. I want the mistakes to be mine.

Quick scone etiquette question (no, not about in which sequence cream goes, that’s been answered):

Which goes on first - cheese or apricot jam?
Scones - one with jam and cheese, and one with cream and jam, side by side.

Awkward for Zia Yusuf, who keeps being sent out to lie as cover for the Reform UK leader

Who did Nigel Farage have lunch with after resigning as UKIP leader 4 July 2016?

Why, it's Russian bribe enthusiast Nathan Gill, who then did the important news briefing on his behalf (to Russia Today)

Either Zia Yusuf has been lying to the British public or he's been used as a patsy to cover for the Reform UK leaders who absolutely know who Nathan Gill is.

"I've never spoken to him, most people in the senior leadership team have never really heard of the guy." 😬

Every time someone makes me read something Peter Thiel said it’s like “Scrooge McDuck is Jesus Christ and Huey, Dewey, and Louie are Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel and Daisy is Mary Magdalene and that’s why women voting has lowered American sperm count.”

Are Labour really going to try and tie current economic damage (and hence the need for further tax rises) to Farage and to Brexit, whilst at the same time insisting that persevering with Brexit is the right thing to do?

That feels like gaslighting of the very highest order.
