As the Daleks threaten life on Earth, here - in a Radio Times interview with #DrWho writer Terry Nation - are some facts about their history -
"The wonderful thing about science fiction is that if the author says a thing is so, then nobody can deny it."

ST:TNG- 'Reunion'

And season 4 is where TNG starts to mine its own history - in 7 eps we've had: the Borg, Picard's history and brother, Worf's mum and dad, the return of the Traveller, Tasha Yar's sister, Data's dad and brother, Worf's ex, his exile from the Klingon Empire, and Worf's son.

Watched this last night, the first half is very funny, it then meanders a bit, but worth having a look.

I'd like to hear a lot less podcast chats with CEOs & celebrities, & a lot more with nurses, social workers, carehome staff, teachers & counsellors. The skills most of us need to work on are communication, empathy, compassion, dealing with difficult emotions, listening & keeping a sense of humour.

No, mate, that's a Nintendo, says so. ;)
The BBC Micro is 44 years old today, Happy Birthday! However, many customers had to wait until early 1982 for delivery of theirs due to limited supply availability before Christmas. During its lifespan just over 1.5 million were sold - exact figures are not known. I still have my original one.

On a different note, but no less incongruous, here's my favourite entry from The RSPB book Birds of Britain and Europe. The Dunnock which apparently feeds on grated cheese under shrubberies

Watching the commentary of The Avengers 'Town of No Return', with Brian Clemens and Roy Ward Baker where they keep insisting things are being shot on location and they're very clearly sets and back projection.

A new episode of World of Telly is out now. This week we take a look at the political sitcom Whoops Apocalypse, which aired on ITV in 1982. Available now wherever you get your podcasts. A video version of this episode will be out next week.

This is marvellous.
Eleven years ago, I wrote to Tom Stoppard to ask about this coup de théâtre from 1949. It took me down an unexpected rabbit hole - in memory of Stoppard, here's what I found.

They appear to have tailored Christmas advertising to me this year, a mid-40s person with a family and spending power. Uncanny.

10 years since Heaven Sent. I should rewatch it really cos the overwhelmingly positive fan reaction put me at odds with my own opinion (it’s not half as clever or romantic as it thinks it is) and I preferred the two eps either side of it.

‘The Hybrid’ though. 🙄

Black Friday. So if you’re a successful, young businesswoman engaged to a emotionally distant investment banker, it’s time to book your flight home and have your life changed irreparably by a handsome contractor with a heart of gold.

I don’t make the rules.
