While I appreciate the energy behind some of the various movements fighting against the current fascist in office, I am interested in whether there is a more cohesive group whose sole purpose is to protect/defend the Constitution?

It seems to me that progressive Democrats already are the center. The problem is that the Overton Window has moved so far right now that party perception is bonkers. Polls say that vast majorities of Americans want commonsense gun safety, paths to citizenship, abortion rights, education, etc.

The problem with Democratic Party is that no one takes them seriously because they don’t take themselves seriously.
You can’t simultaneously argue Trump is a fascist intent on destroying democracy but your major response is to wear a pink suit to a speech, and expect to be taken seriously.
