I'm all about ALIEN '79.

I wrote the ALIEN RPG adventure Rapture Protocol, Those Dark Places, Pressure, Fireteam & Deep Space.

I also love Tolkien, Robin of Sherwood, OD&D, Dead Space, Battlestar Galactica, The Expanse, 2000AD, Star Trek, Star Wars.

My main two social media feeds are Bluesky and Instagram. Here I'll jabber about all kinds of stuff but on Instagram it's going to be more ALIEN-centric. I'm porting a lot of my posts from here to there and sharing ALIEN posts I make here, too.

Another great photo of the Nostromo interior, with the mirror effect in place creating the illusion of a longer corridor.

Practical effects are fantastic. Even the simplest tricks give a sense of reality and depth. In reality, there are few shots in the film where you get to appreciate the effort.

A great BTS photo of the space jockey sound stage that helps establish the size and chaos of shooting on the set.

One thing that stands out to me is the size of the cameras back then. Setting up to establish shots would have been a lengthy process and handheld stuff must have been backbreaking.

When I toured Pompeii many years ago I found myself quite melancholic afterwards. Here I was exploring a snapshot in time, walking streets and sitting in theatres and entering the preserved homes of those who lived there, who had their lives turned upside down in a day.

I really felt a weight of...

I'd forgotten what a batshit insane movie Nemesis is. It's great stuff.

It's pretty much one of my Shadowrun games. Exposition. Smack talk. Crazy blasting.

If you've picked up these games and want some official adventures to go with them, then there's four full Reports to pick up, as well as a couple of short encounters and a Star Trek-inspired supplement.

They're written for TDP but compatible with Pressure.

Ron Cobb said that the special effects department got sick of waiting for a decision on the Nostromo and they just went in to the studio and grabbed drawings. The picture they used had the ship coloured yellow, so that's what they did.

It was resprayed but it would have been interesting.

I'm a huge fan of the ALIEN Fate of the Nostromo boardgame by @scottrogers.bsky.social and released by @ravensburgertcg.bsky.social. it's full of tension and can get really exciting - we've only beaten it once.

The minis are really cool, too. I'd love to see Ash and Kane minis to complete the crew.

I can't lie to you about your chances, Charlie Brown, but... you have my sympathies.
I watched him for 15 years, sitting in a room… inhumanly patient, waiting for some secret, silent alarm to trigger him off. Death has come to your little town, Charlie Brown. Now, you can either ignore it, or you can help me to stop it.

Other than my work on the ALIEN #RPG adventure 'Rapture Protocol' and my Osprey Games books, I design and write short #TTRPG games and adventures, rules light and very cheap.

They're good for one-shots or campaigns and you can learn and play within an hour.

Fantastic BTS shot of the Nostromo landing leg. This was another big set made to look even bigger by putting kids into scaled spacesuits.

There's a smaller version of this so they could film the leg touching down, but this is really impressive.

She's come in from the rain after three hours, didn't bother cleaning, plopped herself wet and dirty on my bed and went straight to sleep.

She's a wet muddy-pawed psycho furball piece of shit. But she's tired, so we're good.

I'm overjoyed that the Pioneer Kickstarter from Mongoose has funded and is still doing really well.

I'm miffed because this near-future space exploration theme was going to be my next version of Those Dark Places, inspired by 'For All mankind' and 'Ad Astra'!

There's a lot to love about this image from ALIEN, but the thing that stands out to me the most is the depth of that corridor.

We know mirrors were used to increase the length of corridors, and in the hypersleep room on the Sulaco in ALIENS, but it's amazing the difference a simple trick can make.

I need to start making plans to secure autographed ALIEN 1979 memorabilia, or even just get hold of stuff signed from the stars and makers of the movies.

I don't trust the online market; if it seems too good to be true it usually is.

I'm going to start reaching out more and hit more conventions.

An excellent video essay from @sskorkowsky.bsky.social. The Satanic Panic was a weird period and while it didn't directly affect me too badly I was well aware of it from across the pond and in the UK.

God damn. I thought I was going to get a Dead Space Isaac Clarke figure at a great price but it turns out they listed it at the wrong price.

I really want an original figure, a plasma cutter and a helmet but, wow, they're expensive.
