Faceted line chart showing statistical performance gaps between high-income (teal) and low-income (purple) countries across five pillars from 2016 to 2023. Gray ribbons highlight the gaps between income groups. Data Sources shows the most significant gap at 43 points, followed by Data Infrastructure at 34 points and Data Services at 27 points. Data Use and Data Products show smaller gaps of 14 and 6 points, respectively. High-income countries consistently score higher across all pillars, with most gaps remaining stable or widening over time, except Data Products, which shows slight convergence.

My old doggo's surgery went really well! What a roller coaster! They were definitely preparing me for the worst, but it looks like he fell into the rate "this thing that looked like aggressive cancer wasn't aggressive cancer" bucket! 🎉🎉🎉

Westley (the Dread Puppy Roberts), my almost-14-years-old "black-mouthed cur", woke up this morning with a ruptured spleen. The good news: so far it doesn't look like metasticized cancer! That means he gets to go under the knife shortly to have that spleen removed and biopsied 🙃

I thought "green thumb" meant "magically lucky with plants," but then I started pruning my indoor tomatoes (to induce fruit + meditatively) and (while washing green off my hands) realized it means "putting in the work in a way outsiders don't understand." Are there similar sayings in other fields?

Had some fun experimenting with the {gt} package for this week data from the UK Met Office on historical weather and climate.

A table summarizing five UK climate zones identified from historical Met Office data (1981–2010). Clusters were derived using k-means analysis based on temperature, rainfall, sunshine, and number of air frost days variables. Each row represents a cluster: the first column shows station locations, the second lists the number of stations, and the remaining six columns present key weather characteristics.
